Well, if he KNEW it was her birthday, he should've, at least, acknowledged it...with a "happy birthday", a card, a gift,...
If he's too young to drive then he's relying on his parents to drive (and possibly pay) for a card and gift. Maybe he didn't ask, maybe he couldn't, maybe he did and they wouldn't take him).
More than likely (as long as you know that he DID know about her b'day)---he is just clueless. Alot of them are. They have to be trained to behave the way you want them to...if they don't know any better, they have to be taught.
Why don't you talk to him and find out if he knew it was her b'day. If he didn't, now he will, and he can still make it up to her (and do better in the future, but she may need to be more open about what she wants and expects from him). If he DID know, then you can let him know how his gf is feeling about it all and HOPEFULLY he does try to make it up to her anyway.
If he just doesn't care either way then...he's probably not worth keeping around...that's up to her though, of course.

No relationship is worth breaking over a gift. Dont advise her to break up with him. Ask her to talk to him about it if its such a big deal for her. He only can give the true reasons for why he did not get her a gift.

theres no excuse for that if they have been going out for 7 months. if he forgot then hes not a good boyfriend. your friend needs to confront her boyfriend. if it hasn't been too long, he may just be planning something extra special. you never know. but either way your friend needs to get to the bottom of this.

Jen, did he know ? People are different about birthdays and other holidays. Some celebrate as they should, while others do not ! Sounds like they need to honestly and openly talk and really get to know each other!
