You speak too much sense for those who lack it.
Every day I see questions which are really attacks on the faith of others. It disturbs them that there are people in the world who believe differently from them.
They exhibit venom, bigotry and hatred towards those of faith and in the next breath cry for tolerance of every person, act and thought under the sun.........except what they don't want to tolerate.

.... because there's a ever-increasing animosity towards the name of Christ. *thinks* Jesus paid the price for the sins of the world... but nobody seems to like Him. lol.
Being a christian, i cant honestly say that we as a 'church' sometimes contribute to a bit of the bad attitudes of non-christains every now and again, but this ISNT always so.
I have seen some christians be extrememly harsh and abrasive in some of their quetions and anwers, but i have also seen non-christians (of a variety of beliefs) do exactly the same thing. I have also seen posts that are extremely respectful, from both Christians and Non-christains.
*****So, It really depends on the person, not necessarily the religious affiliation.******
The problem is, that not everybody can have an opinion, stand their ground and yet, manage to be respectful of the other persons viewpoint. Everyone wants to be right....... and some people, despite their personal beliefs, can't accept being wrong; this applies to everyone, not just christians.
Everyone has a right to believe what they want and in whatever god they want. But if someone's opinions differ from yours, that doesnt mean you have to be insulting, condescending and rude - and that applies to all people.
Most people assume Christians are 'closed-minded' and judgemental and stupid. And well, to be honest, some are. But that's not all of us!!
Truth is, if SOME Christians can manage to be respectful of the religuious beliefs of others, but those same others cannot tolerate Christianity.... than it is the 'others' that are truly the closed-minded and judgemental ones.
Everyone is entiltield to their own opinion. Let's ALL try to be respectful of that!

It doesn't bother me that you choose to believe whatever you choose to believe. But, many...if not most...Christians seem to think that their way is the only right way, and that the rest of us are on the fast track to hell, if we believe in something different or in nothing at all. You are wrong about that! There is no such thing as one right way! Anyone who finds their own answers by honestly looking deeply within for those answers....instead of letting any other person tell them what they should or should not believe, is on the right path for themselves, and is following God's will. Go ahead and be a Christian if you want to, but DO NOT EVER tell another person that your way is the only right way, or that they will be heading straight for hell, if they do not follow your way. This is the primary reason that many people get annoyed or angry with Christians. *sm*

Many times it is because that question (or even some of the answers) are pushing some ignorant and hateful view. If someone is beating the crap out of someone else right in front of you, aren't you going to step in to stop it?
A lot of religious comments on here are actually aimed at us Atheists and Agnostics. They knock, we answer!
[Edit] How sweet! It looks like you've already got the type of answers you're looking for all lined up! That's nice of you; that means that the rest of the Atheist community can pass this question by without wasting any of their time in providing an answer!

Btw.. Helper725, you just contradicted yourself with that "when we Christians tell atheists that THEY ARE WRONG," -- It's simply because you are telling an aetheist that they are wrong when its simply something that they BELIEVE.
Personally, I have no problem with Christians despite being Agnostic. But I do have a problem when Christians & just other people of different religions try to get me to convert & believe their religion or just straight out tell me I'm damned to hell. Maybe then we'll have a heated debate on religion, but there have been times I have defended Christians when aetheists or other agnostics claim religion is a big cult just meant to brainwash you because I believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs & opinions.

It doesn't bother me. It just shows their stupidity and how little they know. They have obviously not been really taught about our loving GOD and Jesus. It is between them and God.
We can't force them to believe anything they don't want to.
The only thing they can come up with is sarcastic remarks, they don't realize there are many things we don't see, such as air. I only pray that someday they will feel it in there heart and come to see and ask Him into their heart and lives. The only reason it bothers Christians is we know their destiny and really feel sorry for them and their families.

To someone who has not drank the cool aid of religion, the assertion of religious beliefs and truths is offensive because:
There is no way to prove or disprove:
- The invocation of one or more supernatural beings
- Miracles
- Eternal Life
- Hell / Heaven
The "believer" must
- Suspend logic
- Adhere to religious dogma
- Place their religion above people on the planet (see the story of Job)
In short, appear superior with no way whatsoever to prove any of what they believe is true. There is also the "drop out" factor when religious adherents seek to implement their belief system in secular society. Like G W Bush saying he "listens to a higher father" than his biologica father (who never would of had us in Iraq).

As Christians we should reach out in love to save the lost. We should help them out of love for God. We should be there if they believe or not to help when and where we can. We should show the love of God to them and be sad when they choose to go to hell.

If you give this question a little thought you might find your own answer. Self righteousness and assuming that all unbelievers are evil and enemies of the faith might contributed toward this. God is not afraid of knowledge or questions.
