Sit-ups, would be better, but only if you do them correctly. Meaning with your knees pulled in, and almost touching your chin to your knees. Otherwise, do crunches with ankle weights on your chest. Which seems better: 500 crunches with 0 lbs. on your chest, or 100 crunches with 10 lbs on your chest?

when i do situps i feel as though they are more of a workout when done properlly but when im doing a 600 set abs workout i do both along with others

Crunches are more efficient than sit-ups. Just remember, no amount of crunches will get you a six-pack if you have a layer of fat over your abs.

in terms of exercising the abdominals the one that you can perform better is what's optimum for you. ab training has no effect on fat loss in the mid-section. your diet will ultimately determine how much body fat you have.
