OH NO using two terms that should not be in the same question. Rephrased to; I really want a econobox gas mileage but I love sports car power and styling? Two separate things however there are some very small sports cars Pontiac Solstice, Saturn SKY. and Mazda Miata or MX-5 they call it this year most of those get 27 to 30 mpg. Honda S-2000 25 mpg Mazda Rx-8 17, 18 mpg. Happy car hunting hope you bag one you like.

I'd recommend a Honda S2000. Mine (2004 model) gives about 30 mpg, is pretty uncommon so people notice it (!!), and is very fast! And its' a Honda, so it won't break down...
I've had mine from new, in 2004, and they just go and go and go!
It's a convertible, and I believe it has the quickest electric roof, taking 6 seconds to open.

Buy one!!
