I want to translate "your death was my destruction" into Latin. I used one of those free online things and the best they gave me was "vestri nex eram meus ruina" which doesn't sound right to me. But then I don't know Latin. I did look up all of the words separately and found none of those, but again I know that doesn't mean much. Could somebody who does know Latin please tell me what the most accurate translation of that line would be? Thanks.

"Mors tua ruina mea (erat)" if it's the death of 1 person,
"Mors vestra... " for 2 or more.
This is a word-by-word translation, I don't think it's very good Latin, but I can guarantee for grammatical correctness.
"Ruina" means desrtuction, catastrophe, and I chose it over "exitium", which also means "death", and has its root in "going away"

Edit " Excidium" means a violent death, which might not be appropriate in this case.

humorous question, and substantial too.. The Latin language of the Roman Empire lost out to new languages via indigenous populations not Latin or replaced into so-referred to as "Latinate" languages--French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan and so forth. It grow to be final used b government officers and clergymen and the use grow to get replaced in maximum areas via English, German, the vulgate or frequently-used varieties, and so forth. this is hard on latins, yet there are people who till finally study it and used it--it should be the main huge-unfold ineffective language on planet Earth. i wish it never dies; i will study it alongside with Homeric Greek in my next lifetime. thank you for asking. megastar coming.
