It is because you are limited as a person, you arived some few years ago, and 100 years is enough to see you going six foot under. Or by accident,( I pray you dont have a premature death) in a second you can breath your last breath and your existence is no more.
He want let us know that without Him, we can do or achieve nothing, that includes our hearts peace, we cant even count our hair or know the number when they are fallen.
He is not limited, we are. We may excell in art, science and technology but still, where our excellency of knowledge will ever reach, right there His foolishness starts.
Imagine, if you corporated with Him, how far will you go? The obedient will eat (explore and excell) the good of the land. He has released all the knowledge we need to excell in arts, science and technology, we can do much more exploits if we let Him that is awesome guide our hearts into how to make awesome achievements on earth.

its not like God hasn't made mistakes
he has repented for his actions in the old testament a couple of times
after the flood he repented and said he would never do that again
but even the foolishness of God is wiser than the greatest wisdom of men
