My cats pee all the damn time. We have two litter boxes, but they only pee in one of them. They poop in both. The one with pee smells SO bad. We clean it every day or every other day (well it's my boyfriend's duty.. so sometimes I CLEAN IT after more than 2 days have passed.. :( ) Anyhoo... the pee doesn't clump well at all, so when we scoop it out there's pee in there still which keeps that pee smell in there. We currently use Tidy Cat Tidy Lock (it has blue trim). What can we use?????

I only use Fresh Step Scoopable Cat Litter. It clumps very well and also I have never had a problem with odor!

I am devoted to using the litter at the Petco store. It's clumping litter, works perfectly. You buy a large plastic tub of it at Petco, which you can then bring back to the store and refill whenever you need more. No trash!!! Best idea ever. Would eliminate lots of throw-away packaging if everyone did this.

I keep the litter in a closet, not out in the open, which helps. Whenever the smell bothers me, I spray Smells Begone into the closet -- use a good odor ELIMINATOR, not a fragrance spray.

Whenever the litter gets low, I throw it out and soak and wash the litter box in the bathtub with HOT water, dish soap, and bleach. Then I dry/air the box in the sun before filling it again. This probably helps with smell and filth accumulating too much over time.

I wonder if scooping more often would help you? Sometimes it works better to scoop twice a day.

I use a Scoopfree litter box and it has the replacable cartridges that you just have to change once a month (or twice if you have two cats)...It is more expensive, but it's alot more convenient and I never have any odor in my apartment. People that come over even tell me that they can't even tell that I have a cat. The litter cartridges use crystal litter, so maybe if you don't want to get the automatic machine, then you could just try the litter crystals.

I would recommend the Arm and Hammer Brand. It does a really good job of getting rid of the smell, and it clumps well too.

Just try any good thick clay litter and it should clump.
