Good question, but should you not also ask if people do believe in God, why are they so concerned? it is almost an obsession with some believers?

They have made a religion from their atheism, and have become the speakers of their belief. Their mission, to eliminate God from everybody else's lives.
The sad thing is that they are succeeding. Nowadays, in USA, religion is practically forbidden.
I just saw that some people here say that religion mixes with politics, and that that should not be.
IMPOSSIBLE !
A certain writer, Donoso Cortés, said that in the bottom of every political thing there is also a religious one. Like it or not, both go together

*Drink!*

Because regardless of one's faith, we all have to deal with religions (and I'm looking at YOU, Christianity) that try to force their way into our daily lives.

Our pledge of alliegience, here in America, has had the words "under God" added to it--against the original author's family's wishes--in the 1950s by Christian Fundies. Since our Constitution guarantees freedom of religion and the right against religious persecution, there's no way all children should have to say this line. There's also a Creation Museum that's aimed at teaching children the radical lie of Creationism, confusing it as truth. No, it's not: It's a Christian belief based off of the Bible. Creationism is also standing in the way of teaching evolution, which actually has scientific backing, in public schools. Schools that my taxes, as an Atheist, helped build--and my children will attend. Again, this all stands in the way of that pesky Constitution. Stem cell research is being held back by religion. This is outright murder, considering the embryos in question are going to be discarded anyway. Now instead of saving lives, they get to rot in landfills.

It's not God that concerns us. It's the actions of those who worship Him.

Seems to me the opposite is true. Look at all the TV preachers, books written about religion, the constant praying at every function one goes too. I really think it is the believers who are obsessed!

you look at it from a christian point of view...look outside the box...there are many more gods than just the christian ones, god and satan...if they are still obsessed with the christian gods then they are still being controlled by it and not really non believers

The only thing that concerns me is when religion crosses into politics thereby making people who do not agree with that particular religious doctrine abide by it.

People can believe what they like, but I don't want to be forced to believe along with them. I have my own beliefs.

Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.

It's a bit like asking:
if people doesnt believe in terrorism?
why are they so concerned? it is almost an obsession with some non-terrorists.

Quite the contrary...I couldn't care less about the question.

However...giving off-the-wall answers designed specifically to unbalance someone else is too much fun to resist.

Because too many believers are trying to take over the gov't of my country & I won't be dictated to by superstitious fools. They're already denying women the health care they need & in many instances, aren't even revealing all of the options available, since it's "against their beliefs."
