NO NO NO! he doesn't have OCD. it sounds like he has paranoid personality disorder
these pple show pervasive distrust and suspiciousness of others whose motives they interpret as malevolent(evil).
Four or more symptoms MUST be present in order to diagnose someone with paranoid personality disorder:
unjustified suspicion that others are exploiting, harming, or deceiving them
preoccupation with unjustified doubts about others' loyalty or trustworthiness
reluctance to confide in others, for fear that the information will be used against them
tendency to read hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into harmless remarks or events.
tendency to bear grudges
perception of personal attacks that are not apparent to others and tendency to respond with angry counterattacks
recurrent unjustified suspicions about the faithfulness of spouse or sexual partner.
Treatment usually consists of Cognitive-Behavioral methods: involves countering the person's mistaken assumptions (very vague but you get the point)

I'm guessing your dad is not really one to express his feelings. Has he always been this way or did this just recently start? If it's recent, maybe something happened to him that has scared him. Was he mugged? Held up? Did he hear any stories about young girls being abducted? In either case, it should start with a conversation. Don't act like you're attacking him, but really try to sit down and talk to him and tell him you want to understand why he's so afraid of letting you do normal things. If he still won't open up, then maybe he needs to talk to someone else he trusts or a professional.

I'm no doctor or anything, but i'd call this OCD. Which is a psychological problem. If you've ever seen the movie the Aviator with Leonardo DiCaprio you'll know what i mean. Obviously that was an EXTREME case, but you're dad may have a small case of OCD. Talk to your mom about it and maybe she can help come up with some ideas of how to bring it up to him. Good luck.

Its possible that your father is dealing with symptoms of paranoia. Your mom should insist he be checked by a doctor if this is new behavior, it could be the first sign of something worse. Better to catch these things while small before they blow up to be big things.
However if your dad has always been like this, he's probably been reading the news. That would make anyone paranoid.

My dad is like that because he was in Veitnam. Basically, you just have to deal with it. Sometimes a psychologist or psychiatrist can help, but sometimes you just have to let him calm down and explain to him that you have a cell phone, and extra cash, and the fire extinguisher is right there, and all that, and sometimes they calm down. My dad hates fireworks, but once he realized he was acting irrationally, he worked a lot to get through it, and even took me and my brother out to watch them once. Some men just are dealt that card. Help him to play it right. Maybe call a counselor (with your mom). Hoe it all works out.
