I am going to politely say no to your request about something cuddly.
The Cross represents the love that God has for us is very meaningful to me and millions of other Christians.
But I think I will try a different picture.
+ The Cross +
The MOST important thing that Jesus did for us was die for our sins to give us the gift of everlasting life.
He did rise from the dead but rising from the dead did not open the gates of heaven for us, dying for our sins did. The symbol of the cross or the crucifix in no way denies the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the MOST important point in all of history.
+ The Celtic Cross +
No one really knows how the Celtic cross got its circle. There are many legends, like:
+ In Ireland, it is a popular myth that Saint Patrick introduced the Celtic cross to the island during his time converting the pagan Irish. Some believe that he combined the symbol of Christianity, a cross, with the symbol of the sun, to give pagan followers an idea of the importance of the cross by linking it with the idea of a pagan sun god.
+ There is another legend of how St. Patrick, when preaching to some soon-to-be converted heathens, was shown a sacred standing stone that was marked with a circle that was symbolic of the moon goddess. Patrick made the mark of a Latin cross through the circle and blessed the stone making the first Celtic cross.
+ An Irish Catholic priest will have no hesitation telling you that the circle of the Celtic cross is a symbol of eternity that emphasizes the endlessness of God’s love as shown through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.
+ That is unless he says the circle is a halo.
+ He may go on to explain that the crucifixion is important not just as an event at a certain point in time but as the circle symbolizes, as the unending mystery of how through the crucifixion and resurrection Christ continues to offer the hope of salvation to the faithful throughout all time.
However the Celtic cross came about, since about 450 A.D., it has been a symbol of Christianity for millions of Irish and other Catholics including me.
With love in Christ.

Why are you bothered by it? Other Christian denominations also have crosses. That is the person's prerogative can we not respect it? Some members use icky and yucky things for their avatar and no one complains about them. Why is it that when something is Catholic you all raise your voices in condemnation? Do you consider this Christian behavior?
May the Lord's peace be with all of you!

Is the avatar universally offensive? I have not seen it so I do not know. I would guess you are probably one who is a ranking member of the P.C Police. I may be wrong because as I have said I have not seen the Avatar so forgive my assumption.
