Absolutely, but christianity (woman-hating as it is,) squelched their writings. The Oracle at Delphi is but one of many.

Yes there were.

In the Old Testament these women were called prophetesses:

Miriam- she was the sister of Moses and Aaron and stood along side Aaron with Moses (Exodus 15)

Deborah was a judge and the leader of Israel (Judges 4)

Huldah (2 Kings 22:14 & 2 Chronicles 34:22)

In the New Testament these women were called prophetesses:

Anna - the widow who stayed at the temple and proclaimed the infant Yeshuah the messiah (Luke 2:35-37)

The four daughters of Phillip (Acts 21: 9&10)

There were also false prophetesses mentioned:
Jezebel, in both the old and New Testament in Revelation, and Noahdiah in the Old Testament in Nehemiah 6:14.

Further it is foretold in the Old Testament in Joel 2:28 and again in the New Testament in Acts 2:17 that there will be prophets and prophetesses yet to come: "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams."

I hope this helps!

Yes there have. You can read in Judges chapters 4 & 5 about a prophetess named Deborah. She was an amazing lady...
The Bible also says that Miriam, Moses' sister, was a prophetess (Exodus 15:20). Anna, the elderly woman who blessed Jesus when His parents brought Him to the temple when He was a baby, was also a prophetess. These are just a few examples of prophetesses in the Bible.
I am a Seventh Day Adventist, and we believe that a very special lady named Ellen White was also a prophetess. She was born in 1827 and died in 1915. Every test that we must apply to anyone who claims to be a prophet of God has been passed by Ellen White. You can learn more about her at these websites that I have enclosed.
Hope this helps! God bless!

Yes.
Deborah.
A judge, a warrior, a homeowner...and yes, a prophet.
And, of course, a lady.
There is nothing in Judaism that says a woman cannot be a prophet, nor, for that matter, in Christianity.
Before you go to some verse someone showed you in one of Paul's letters, try this: do a word search through Paul's letters on the terms woman, women, wife, and wives. The results might surprise you.
Also, please realize that Paul is NOT our final authority. Jesus is.
And Jesus definitely had no problem with women.

The answer is yes. There are two spoken of by Paul in the book of Acts but realize that God is no respector of persons, He calls and anoints both men and women to hold this divine office of kingship, priesthood and that of a prophet of God in this day and hour. God is anointing born again believers with the power and anointing of His Holy Spirit just as he did unto Moses, Samuel, King David through Jesus Christ, the King of kings and the Lord of lords...Let him anoint you today, you will never be the same again but a true king unto Christ. I have a cd on this subject on how to experience kingdom authority now titled "Messiahskings" Kings of the coming 1000 year reign of Christ! It give you the wisdom on how to be anointed and your duties as a true king, priest and prophet of Christ Jesus. This is available to all, no matter of your race or religion....

I suspect there have been many female prophets, but as the fundamentalist bible makes clear, it is a male dominated religion.
the young girl, I forget her name that had visions and prophecies in Lourdes, comes to mind.

Well this looks highly suspicious if no women ever contributed anything...that should tell you the whole thing is a male fantasy.

Women should dump the chauvinistic Bible and move on with their lives, it has held them back long enough if only they could see it.
