For to me, living means opportunities for Christ, and dying—well, that’s better yet!

But if living will give me more opportunities to win people to Christ, then I really don’t know which is better, to live or die! Sometimes I want to live, and at other times I don’t, for I long to go and be with Christ. How much happier for me than being here!

But the fact is that I can be of more help to you by staying! Yes, I am still needed down here, and so I feel certain I will be staying on earth a little longer, to help you grow and become happy in your faith; my staying will make you glad and give you reason to glorify Christ Jesus for keeping me safe when I return to visit you again.

What I want to know is, if heaven is such a wounderful place to go, why are most Christians happy to be alive?

They are afraid to die because no matter how great the promises of an afterlife in heaven, there is still nothing but unanswered questions. They are given nothing definitive to depend on. When you KNOW what comes after death it removes all fear. The christian religion really offers no explanations or directions for after death. Just promises with no basis. Been there. Peace and love> For my own personal reasons I have always called Christianity a death cult. Why? Because they shun a life on earth and live for after death. Because of this they don't care what happens to the planet. They have said let's use up the planets resources for we have no need to save them. We won't be here. It is a very selfish religion.

Because they realize that heaven is an intangible concept. The Bible is so vague and archaic, I think a lot of people can't fully believe it. If you had never heard of the Bible before and picked it up at a used bookstore or something, would you believe a single thing that it said? Would you accept it as the word of God if there was no one to convince you it was? Christians are afraid to die because the logical part of their mind can't make peace with the intangible concept of heaven.

Strong Christians are not afraid to die because they know exaclty where they are going. Isn't everybody afraid to die. I guess Christians who are afraid to die, are not very strong in FAITH and like the life that they live on earth. Personally, I do doubt sometimes if I will go to heaven (again faith issues) but i am not always afraid to die.

sometimes it has to do with the people you are leaving behind and how they will cope with your death, but if you are true christians, you will meet again in time

Not afraid at all... but WE Christians, like YOU have emotions and familial ties, and fear PAIN (associated with death), and all the other worries about loss of relationships etc that non believers feel. We worry about our loved ones' (Children, parents or spouse) being left here without us.
It's not about fear at all.
