Don't sue if you do get pregnant, but the times you are less likely to conceive are the week before your period, during your period and the week after your period. That is because you usually ovulate around 14 days after your period. But you cannot just not have sex on the 14th day because of other factors. One, the sperm can live in the woman's reproductive system for up to 5 days. Two, your body does not always follow that exact pattern, especially if you are a teen or a woman close to menopause. Third, sometimes the body will spontaneously release an egg whenever it chooses. It is as if this sex thing was designed to get us pregnant, he he. The only way to be 100% sure is to just not have sex.

The best days to conceive are 14 days after your first day of your last period. So if you started your period on July 1 you would be more likely to get pregnant on July 15. Make sense? This does not apply to all women though. Some women have irregular periods, therefor this messes up their ovulation time. Some women ovulate only once a year. But assuming you have a 28 day normal cycle, you should ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period. Some women, like myself, can tell when they are ovulating while other women have no signs at all. The most common signs are: swelling of cervix, clear string discharge, and feeling particularly in the mood for sex. If you want to get a very good estimate of when you can conserve try googling a ovulation calculator. It should be free. Good Luck to you!!!!!!!

generall rule of thumb is 14 days after your period is the best time also the days leadin up to that because sperm can live in the vagina for 4 to 5 days. However any time of the month you can get pregnant. Also if you have a short or shorter cycle like a 21 days instead of 28 or 29 you ovulate 7 days after not 14

buy an Ovulation Predictor Kit. If you have regular periods, generally same day each month, normal cycle, then you ovulate 14 days before your next period. To be sure, buy an ovulation predictor kit, you'll find them next to the pregnancy tests in the store, I recommend going to a drug store like Walgreens or CVS, etc. they usually have more OPK's to pick from, but any brand will do. if you want to stay away from those days as you stated...then do not have sex 3 days before or after ovulation, to be safe.
If you WANT to conceive..then have sex during ovulation...OPK's are about 15 to 20 bucks, and are a great help.
