No. Quite frankly, we can't afford it - and I mean that in the fiscal sense.

YES : I think the Senate should pass this Illegal Amnesty Bill , but only under the following condition of amendments #1 - All the people ( 18% ) who are for the bill as it stands at the moment , will be taxed at an 82% tax rate to cover the massive expenses of the bill that they are so passionate about being passed ! #2 - All the people who are in favor of this Illegal Amnesty Bill passing ( 18% ) will be required to sit on a jury 1 week a month during the trials of Illegal Immigrants until the docket is clear of crimes committed by Illegal Aliens ! #3 - All the people ( 18% ) who are in favor of this Illegal Amnesty bill passing shall be required to drive a deportation bus to the mexican border with no less that 50 deportees on board ; this will be done until the total delivered by each 18% `er reaches 1,000 !! #4 - All the people ( 18% ) who are in favor of this Illegal Amnesty passing shall be required to donate 10 hours per week of their free time at the Illegals` place of residence and teach them English . This shall be done until all Illegals can speak English ! They must pass a written supervised test ! A failing grade means the class must be repeated in full ! #5 - All people ( 18% ) who are in favor of this Illegal Amnesty Bill passing shall be assigned to guard a section of the new border fence they think they are going to get ! The time frame for this shall be according to the number of Illegals who are still sneaking into the country Illegally ! Should no fence get built , this should not be an issue with the folks` that are for the Illegal Bill passing that are assigned to guard the border ; because there will be no Illegals` Sneaking across Illegally because your "YES" Amnesty Bill Vote " said` not to , and since the Illegals are such law abiding criminals and obey the law they won`t sneak across ; and you will have no problems !! #6 - All the people ( 18% ) who are in favor of this Illegal Amnesty Bill shall be required to donate 1 week-end a month of their time assisting the staff in your local Hospital Emergency Room , preferably on the midnight shift , so the over worked , under paid Legal American Citizens might have a day to make sure you are doing all your other required duties in a timely and organized manner !! #7 - All the " NO " people ( 82% ) who are against this Illegal Amnesty Bill , well we will be required to do our jobs` as we always have , without complaining , and we will be doing it more efficiently as we won`t be dealing with your ( 18% ) whinning as a distraction !! Unless these conditions that are part of the (18%) YES people requirments are met ; then NO , the Illegal Amnesty Bill should be killed once and for all !

the actual polls of the american people show that minimum of 70-90% of the american people are against this bill. This bill is nothing but amnesty for people who are here illegally. There is no enforcement in the bill, no incentive for people to become citizens, no guarentee of how long the people will stay in this country, and this bill actually gives people who are here illegally more rights than the usa citizens.. where do we stop if this happens?? right about everyone else who has served time for something?? they did something wrong and are paying the price. should everyone be let out of prison because they are good people at heart? heck no.. we have laws in this country which need to be followed. usa citizens work hard, pay taxes, vote, follow the laws, etc and do not need to support a group of people who are here illegally and don't care about the usa! i swear, i wish people would see this and push that this bill does not pass!!!!

No, this Senate bill has serious issues I think anyone who thinks this bill is a good idea or the best we can do needs to invest a little more time and read up on everything. The loopholes in this bill are so blatant that it does not even take a legal mind to recognize them. It also has little or no enforcement and creates more problems than it solves.

One of the MANY MANY loopholes:

"Loophole in Senate Immigration Bill to Pay More Than $966 Billion in Social Security Benefits to Two Million Illegal Workers

Despite Provision Barring Benefits for Illegals Receiving Social Security
Numbers After 2007, Millions Who Received Numbers Prior to 2004 Would Still
Receive Benefits "

No. I wouldn't have a problem if the bill was designed to convert illegal immegrants into legal migrant workers --- in essence bringing them into line with LEGAL aliens, but I think the idea of creating a pathway to citizenship is rightfully being termed Amnesty for illegal activities and the bill should be defeated for that reason.

Plus I haven't heard of anything in the bill about forcing illegal immigrants to get health checks before their status is changed. Are we just going to give the illegal immigrant with TB a Z-visa?

The Dems would do a lot better to work with the true Republicans and not Bush. Make a law to build the fence, punish people who assist illegals in crossing our border, and support the border patrol only. Deal with illegals later.

No. National degredation into a third world nation. We should be trying to build ourselves up, not adding cheap labor to depress wages. Here in So. CA, some of the day laborers will work for free for the first two hours if you promise them 8 hrs of work. This harkens back to the late 1860's reconstruction era. These people need to go home and they need to stop comming.

NO!
Since they have previously enacted legislation to secure the border and haven't done so, they should first secure the border, stop the influx of illegal aliens.
They should intensify the efforts to locate, detain and deport illegal aliens while work is in progress securing the border.
Enforce the laws against employing illegals.
Only after proving to the American citizenry that the influx has stopped and will not recur, should they address the issue of the ones who remain after these measures are taken.
This bill would be like others in the past, shamnesty without actually securing the border.

No they should not. We have a current law for legal immigration already in place. It is not broken. What is broken is our border security.

Illegal aliens are yet again getting a free pass to citizenship; and even now those special interest groups are not pleased with the new bill.

Those very groups do not want those illegal aliens to have to take those special tiny steps to become legal; and even so, if it passes; watch the flood to the border happen so more people can get in on it. NO!

They should not pass the bill and those that keep denying that this bill in effect grants amnesty need to wake up. Why would anyone willingly surrender their soveriegnty? You wouldnt let someone move into your house without asking would you?

No, they shouldn't even bring it back for debate. CNN ran the same quickvote poll, you can check the results on their web page.

because the bill isn't fixable, there are deal breakers in the boilerplate 'not allowed' to be amended. We need to start with a new draft that focusses on the infrastructure like schools being impacted and the damage to American citizens. Legalization could be a part of that (NO twice illegal and no gangs) IF the problem were stopped going forward with a citizen suit provision to allow citizens to compell enforcement. Enforcement being 'discretionary' is what got us into this mess.
