My dear, let’s go and see if the rose,
Which this morning had opened
Its purple robe to the sun,
Has this evening lost
The folds of its purple robe
And its color like your own.

From Adémo's kind French version:

Mignonne, allons voir si la rose
Qui ce matin avait déclose
Sa robe de pourpre au soleil
A point perdu cette vêprée
Les plis de sa robe pourprée
Et son teint au vôtre pareil"

I offer the following:

Sweetheart, let's see if the rose
Which this morning had revealed
Its purple dress to the sun
Has not lost this evening
The folds of its crimson dress
And its complexion just like yours

Lousy English - I'm not a poet - but that's the gist of it.

It's a poem from the 16th century !! Even a fluent speaker isn't able to translate it.
With what adémo has told you, find a french poems book translated in english.

See, Mignonne, hath not the Rose,
That this morning did unclose
Her purple mantle to the light,
Lost, before the day be dead,
The glory of her raiment red,
Her colour, bright as yours is bright?
