So, like some other people on here, I'm thinking of shaving my head. I have a full head of hair and typically keep it in a pretty conservative guy's style (a couple inches long and side parted). I usually get compliments on it when I get it cut. But, for some reason I just have this urge to shave my head totally bald.

My first concern is if the look would suit me. I'm average height, have a muscular build, strong facial features and people compliment me on my eyes all the time.

Another concern is that I am interviewing for jobs in about 6-7 weeks, and I'm nervous about how it will look while I am interviewing. I know that interviewers look past a haircut, but my theory is, why chance it? I guess, I could shave it very soon and then immediately grow it back, but doesn't that kind of take the fun out it?

Is it a bad idea for me to shave it? Or am I worrying too much about something trivial? Thanks for your advice.

I have a clipper cut with no guard used. This is then next thing to being shaven. I too am conderned about how I will look and I am retired. I just don't like to see all that white hair

Maybe you should hold off until after the job interview. This could determine if you get the job or not. But good luck.

There is nothing wrong with shaving your head (I shave mine). Most employers recognize the fact that everybody is different and do not discriminate. Of course there are exceptions - Disney, for example, have a policy of not employing people with shaved heads (whether they employ those who are completely bald for, say, medical reasons I don't know).

If you are worried about whether or not it will suit you, simply take a photo of yourself, then use photo editing software to remove your hair (not as accurate as using a professional service to do the editing, but it will give you some idea).

One thing to bear in mind if you go ahead and do it (I may be stating the obvious here, but you'd be surprised how many people don't think of it): Nothing looks worse or more obvious than a tanned face (even lightly tanned) with a large pale (or paler) patch where your hair was (and yes, even black people suffer this problem - trust me). Therefore, you may want to consider visiting a tanning salon ASAP (yup, I said I'd never be seen dead in one - until I saw my head the first time I shaved it).

Above all, remember - it's your body (well, head anyway) and you are entitled to do what YOU want with it. Yours is the only opinion that really counts and you should not allow others who have a prejudice against shaven heads influence YOUR decision.

Good luck

I think a shaved head is extremely attractive in males, and I wish more would be willing to do it. If you have the right face for it, you can still manage to look very conservative for you interview. I can't give you great advice without a picture, but if you think you'd look good with it, then go for it! Best of luck. :]

OK the first thing u have to think about is head shape. if Ur head looks more box like than a shaved head isn't a good look. But my dad had a more oval shaped face very muscular build and looks great with a shaved head! If u wear Ur new "do" with confidence then it will look great no matter what[a tan helps too!] hope this helps good luck!

I say go for it, if you would like. I don't think you have to worry about the job interview. Some of your hair will grow back in 6-7 weeks. It's really your choice. If you want a change, then do it! It's hair. It will grow back.

please don't shave your head. i hate it when people do that... please! if you are going to shave it, wait until your job interview is over. after you've secured your job, have some fun.
