I never thought about it before. I don't think I pay attention.

Some might say jelly, so you taste it better.

I put the jelly on the top and the peanut butter on the bottom slice of bread. Then the peanut butter doesn't stick up in the top of my mouth.

jelly definately on top, unless, of course, you are making a fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then jelly needs to be on the bottom so it doesn't drip out.

The ONLY legal way to make a PB&J in the U.S. is to put a thick coating of Skippy creamy PB on the LEFT bread, and a dollop of jelly (or preserves or fruit spread) of your choice on the right bread. Spread the jelly evenly on the bread, then place the PB bread on top of the jelly bread.

The consequneces for not making a PB&J this way are severe.

If caught, penalties may include, but not be limited to, having your PB&J rights completely revoked.

jelly on top.
somes store also sell the jelly and peanut butter swirled together so it would not matter.(I have never tried it though)

Also, if you put banana slices in it tastes great!

I never mix the two. It is one or the other never together.
