Has he seen his doctor regarding this? Your uncle might consider looking up the side effects of his blood pressure medicine, in case this might be contributing to his sleep problems. In that case, maybe a different medication would help. Also, is his blood pressure really under control? Have him check this out with his doctor, too. If he has things on his mind that are keeping him awake, at night, maybe a little R&R or even a little vacation would be in order to help him get things in order. Of course, no caffeine products.

He should try some simple things first. Make sure he is not drinking anything with caffeine after 1 or 2 in the afternoon. He should watch no upsetting or fighting TV shows right before bed. Sometimes warm milk can help. Try turning on some relaxing music, and making it loud enough for him to not be able to hear anything else.
Find out if he worrying about something, if so help him to work out whatever it is. Sometimes I go to bed and still have so much to do that I can not sleep. Writing down the things I need to complete sometimes helps.
Good Luck

He should probably go to a sleep clinic for evaluation. There he can have his brain waves measured. He should also have a mental health evaluation although it may be difficult to tell whether any mental health issues are causing the sleep problem or the sleep problem is causing the mental health problems. Depression and anxiety often exist along with sleep problems.
A general practitioner can prescribe a sleep medication such as Ambien or an anti-anxiety such as Valium, both of which may help him sleep.

This can be a huge problem...unless you can help it. Whenever I can't fall asleep, I always just put in a movie that I've seen about 100 times. Or, I eat something like warm milk or sometimes I eat gram crackers. (Sometimes I dip them in that warm milk.) If this doesn't work, then you should definitely go to the doctor. Do not overdose those sleeping pills. That can be very unhealthy. Use these tips, and your uncle should be absolutely fine.

My solution would be to see a doctor. Ask about generic Ambien. The name brand is so expensive. If that doesn't work, then he may have mental problems such as myself (Bi-Polar). I can't sleep at night cause I am so restless and have racing thoughts. He may have something similar, so he may need to see a psychiatrist...but only after he sees a primary care doctor. But definitely have him check into prescription sleep aids!!!

I would set him up with an appointment with a local Sleep Doctor. Perhaps he has developed insomnia or something else.

There are sleep medications available through prescription. He needs to see his doctor about it. Meanwhile, he may want to try taking Benadryl to put him to sleep.

Tell him to try Abiem. Or he can ask his doctor for medication to help him sleep. If he doesn't like medicine, tell him to visualize himself getting sleepy. In his mind; he should see himself yawning
