This symbol is found in a few churches in England. The 3 rabbits have 3 ears between them, but each appear to have 2 ears. These symbols are usually Medieval or older. the church says the symbol symbolizes the trinity, they don't elaborate on which trinity it symbolizes. It is most likely Pagan as the symbol is apparently also found in some Buddhist temples of the same age. Does anyone have any further information about this symbol?

Gosh, well the rabbit is a symbol of the fertillity goddess Eostara from who we get the word Easter. It's not un-common for goddesses from her time to have a triple aspect even though she Herself isn't a triple goddess. 3 is a very sacred number and 9 is even more so (3 times 3). I forget why. The ancient people of England, the Celts, liked to decorate with animal images and had a liking for the number 3. Does this image have any association with St. Bridget? She began as an ancient fire goddess with a triple aspect and was later made into a saint. I think rabbits may have been sacred to Her. That's all I got.

It's been a part of their culture for a long time. The 3 leafed shamrock is Ireland's most recognised national symbol. Before the arrival of the Christians to Ireland the plant was sacred to the Irish Druids because the three leaves formed a triad. St. Patrick used the shamrock leaf to illustrate the Holy Trinity, when explaining Christianity to the Irish people. Three Gods in one. So the shamrock and the Trinity have become inextricably intertwined in Irish culture and you see it just about everywhere in Ireland, especially Southern Ireland.

I would say procreation. The picture is really interesting, maybe everyone is wrong, maybe the rabbits have six ears, the other three ears are hidden behind the ears that you can see..Maybe they are all listening to the the same thing (shared ears)

How fascinating.

I would be blown away by the age of so many places in Europe. In Texas you can't get much older than the Alamo and it leaves me in awe. I can only imagine Westminster Abbey.
