If you're smart enough to figure the installation part out, then you ought to be smart enough to figure out that if you measure your speakers and they're almost exactly 6" in diameter, then they're not 6-1/2".

EDIT: You sent me a private message (copied below), yet you refuse to be contacted via email yourself. Big surprise.

Professor - nobody likes a
smart ***. I realize you probably thought it was
obvious that a speaker that measures 6''
shouldn't be called a 6 1/2'', but, tell me, do you
know what the real dimensions of a 2 x 4 are?
look it up sometime. If you're right about the
speakers, which im not saying you're not, then
thanks but don't be a dick about it. If you just
made that answer up because it seems
obvious, you should probably take a look at
some of the other answers i got - not everyone
agrees with you. Either way you should
probably get a life and work on losing your
virginity or something. Have a wonderful day

You don't need to be crude, but then perhaps your language skills are such that that's all you know. I guess we can blame your parents for that. Anyway, I did review the other two answers: one disagrees (sort of), but then I don't get worked up when someone disagrees with me.

That said, it doesn't take an idiot to figure out that you need to get the same size replacement speakers, no matter the size. So, to restate my thoroughly thought out and correct answer, yours are 6" speakers, not 6-1/2" speakers. It seems to me you asked the wrong question.

It's very common for speakers marketed as 6 1/2" to use a wide variety of different speaker cone sizes. Most 6 1/2" speakers are designed to fit as wide a selection of vehicles as possible; one way is to build a slightly smaller speaker with a broad mounting ring. In other words, don't worry about the exact size of the speaker cone. I very rarely run into problems with 6 1/2" speakers due to mounting diameter; usually if there's going to be a problem it will be with speaker depth.

If you provide information on your vehicle's year and model, I can probably give you more specific information.

As confusing as it may sound there is 2 different sizes of 6.5's. For a long time the "standard" 6.5" speaker was only about 6". Then manufacturers started making speakers that were actually 6.5 inch speakers. The 6.5 name was already taken so they just had to calls these "oversize" 6.5's (some people call them 6.75). Its confusing and the term "six and a half" gets used synonymously for the 2 sizes.

If they are round, then they are just 6" speakers.
