Is it a bad idea to make a pipe out of a plastic shooter bottle?

Question

I ran out of smokes at the house but had pipe tobacco that a friend had sold me cheap but had no pipes or papers around. Being the wannabee inventor that I am, I fashioned a pipe out of a plastic Ciclon bottle. Will smoking tobacco this way cause me to inhale noxious fumes? Should I insulate the area around the lid/bowl with aluminum foil to minimize the risk?

I cover it with my thumb after each puff to cool it down now and that seems to be having the desired effect of improving the taste while conserving the tobacco. Thank you for your responses so far~ Spence

Yes it will make you sick and it's very bad for you. Try some type of metal or glass. Plastic don't hold up well to any direct heat. Just look at the plastic does it look clean like it used to or burnt?

Maybe better yet,stop smoking :)

Better Idea - take an aluminum soda or beer can. Dent the side of it in to make it flat (near the bottom of the can - on same side as drinking hole). Take a pin and make a bunch of holes in a circle on the dent (about the size of a dime - fill inside of circle with pin pokes). Place the tobacco on the dent, on top of the holes. Place mouth over part of can that you normally drink out of, light - smoke. You may want to make a pencil size hole on the opposite side of the can from the small pin holes. Place your finger over the large hole as you light it, draw a breath in and after a few seconds remove your finger from the larger hole.

Don't! - No burning plastic will produce fumes that are good for you. Some will be downright poisonous.
