The Bible is not exactly fiction, but far from historical or scientific fact in many respects. People have been anticipating the "Apocalypse" for nigh two millenia. Every single generation has believed that it was imminent, that they'd see it within their lifetimes. Every major world event is correlated to some obscure biblical prophecy to show that time is up. The world ought to have ended hundreds of times over, had the advertising been accurate. I suppose that none of this impacts the continued belief on the part of the "devout" that we're in the "End Times."

If you find your life to be "hum-drum" you might change it. I worked from 12-22 because I focused entirely on making money and having as many material possessions as I could to out-do the "competition". I did very well made lots of money had all the gadgets and was miserable. I stumbled across a Herman Hess book and was struck with the urge to travel. I spent a summer backpacking in Europe flipping a coin to decide where to go and what to do. The only bad times I had were the two times I went against what the coin said. I know it sounds crazy but it was incredible. Comparatively my life isn't as exciting now as it was then but it has its moments. Life that's always exciting is also exhausting. As to the Armageddon do you really wait for the day humanity destroys itself? Your question references Jesus and the biblical view of the apocalypse, have you considered other ideologies? The Mayan calendar ends in 2012 roughly one presidential term after Bush. This could be a time for your Armageddon though Mayan lore doesn't suggest an end of mankind just a paradigm shift. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. I'm hoping its a good thing and I do my best to conserve resources, protect the environment and enjoy a simpler and ultimately more enjoyable existence. A couple of books you might want to read are Thoreau's "Walden" and anything by Herman Hess.
A final interesting point, if a space born object was on collision course with earth and likely to destroy it, government policy is not to release this information to the public. So enjoy the day as best you can and peace be with you.

One, those prophecies speak of two different events. Armaggeddon is after the catching away of the Christ's church and the Great Tribulation. Jesus' return as a thief in the night speaks of the "rapture." It will happen in a fraction of a second. And Jesus told us to watch and be ready for it. That means behave as if He's coming back in the next second.

2 Peter 3: 3-8
...."Let this fact not be escaping your minds, loved ones, 1000 years is but one day to God and one day is 1000 years...Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise but wants all to attain life...his day will come as a thief...
James 1: 12 - 15
...'With evil things God cannot be blamed nor tried, but each one is tried by his own desires which when give forth to sin becomes death..."
Hold on a little bit longer, man for if you do the rewards are stupendous! Can you imagine a life full constant goodness, no sickness, no suffering, no taxes (can't forget that one), no suffering, no crime, and the last to be removed from mankind is death. We will cap between the ages of about 20 to 30 years old and grow no older.
We are going to say "Jehovah, no more! Please we have so much and this is wonderful but no more, thank you!" But he is going to give us even more....not like greed is in this world but the givings from Jehovah God will surpass any of our most vast imagination. Can you imagine that? Wow!
I've been under so much persecution for the past 1.5 years....things I don't even understand why they are happening to me, but I know Satan has tried to get me to curse God and die pretty much since I got baptized in July 2003, but I still never waivered in my love and dedication to Jehovah. I knew there would be trials but never figured on them being so hateful in nature, so badly executed by Satan using other ungodly men to hurt me. Now that all the lawsuits, though the courts have tried to prevent me from getting justice, have come to court (and they had to transfer them to a different court because of the bigotry in the county where I live now) with a new judge, the new judge has been fair and his decisions I will receive by mail shortly. What if they are not what I suspected? What if they are?
Either way, I will never curse Jehovah God because I know in this dirty old world, I am susceptable to any badness because this is the sickness of the world today. But I know thru prayer and asking many and asking others around me to pray, I see the power of it and that it can supercede anything Satan and evil men can throw at me.
Don't worry man, hang in there. The rewards are endless, but mostly you just don't want to hurt Jehovah God's heart. Look at this beautiful earth he set in place for us to live in and he "gave us life", no matter how man has trashed it, he loved us so much to give us the gift of life. Pretty soon, his entire purpose will be fulfilled after Armageddon.
Love

Well, what's happening on Earth at this very moment, right now, is anything but 'hum-drum.' Several wars are taking place, genocide is happening, thousands of children are dying from starvation or disease, the equivalent of 'slaves' are toiling away on the cheap clothes you may be wearing, the Arctic ice is melting, men and women and even children are being tortured, women are being raped and murdered, kids are being molested, rain is falling somewhere, wind is blowing somewhere, the seas are churning up somewhere, trees are falling somewhere, lions are killing cute little gnu's in Africa, hawks are killing darling little birds somewhere, spiders are eating butterflies, and so on and on. Hum-drum? Babies are being born, kitty cats are purring, great orchestras are tuning-up for a concert, flowers are welcoming the summer, 4-year-olds are eating ice cream and getting more on their shirts than in their mouths, the baby panda in my city's zoo is crying for her mother, the silverback gorillas in Africa are pounding their chests, and in the living quarters of the White House, the unfortunate president of the United States is wondering why his ratings are going down and down. Hum-drum? Anything but.

Misinterpretation of scripture. The point of "thief in the night" isn't that no one will be ready, but always be ready because no one can be sure when it's coming.

So all these events occuring. Chinas military build-up, terrorism, increased sexual violence, Russias insecurity and feeling of threat towards USs missile defense system, earth's resources running out in approx. 50 years, etc etc -i guess thats just the end of the world without any hope.
ps- in case you have not noticed, no one is really waiting up. People eventually and usually fall asleep-metaphor for giving up, then the fireworks begin.

Because God is merciful.
We will pray that you are saved before the rapture, during the tribulation, before armageddon and BEFORE THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT.
My question to you is where would you stand with GOD
IF HIS BIBLE is true? Email with that response. It doesnt require you to believe in GOD. My question only requires the response of if the WORD of God is true, where would you stand?
God Bless YOU!!!
