Yes, it is possible. But I think if a person is rational and has no other major problems, they are able to see that it is a short time and to value that time. Also, I grow concerned when people cannot "live" without someone else, that usually means they need some help professionally.

The key is to have a life of your own, value others and understand that nothing is forever, learn to release when you need to by being mentally healthy. I am not saying that missing someone is abnormal, I am however saying that when it is carried to great lengths, it is not healthy.

Yes depression can be caused by breaking off a friendship. But if it last you should seek medical help. You should be able to come out of it if you don't need the help.

This is what I posted at www.43things.com.

About a year and a half ago I came down with a nasty flu, although I don’t know what
caused me to be depressed, it did occur while i had the flu. Since then up until about
3 months ago I would experience loneliness and sadness and just feel like I was cursed
to keep living through the nightmare of it.

What got me out of that slump was to not give into it being “out of my control” as the
doctors said, they prescribed me zoloft which made me feel like I was on fire
(overdose is what did it), then i was on paxil which is a miracle medicine to me.

What finally broke depressions hold on me was getting into religion which helped for the
first bit of it, then after I did that soul searching I’d read the bible and take a paxil
when I felt down. After a about a year of doing that I decided I was tired of feeling depressed
at all, so I started using the mind over matter style and taking paxil with it, and it worked, I
started taking half a paxil instead of a whole one, then a fourth, and now I don’t get depressed anymore.

So just try that, no matter what your religion is just get closer to God, accept some help
from medicine (or keep being depressed) and tell yourself it’s all under your control.

Something else that works great for me is to order my body, I know it sounds strange but
try it before ya make an opinion about it,you have to completely believe in your own ability
to control your body or it might not work, and for you that doubt this, how much of our
brains are actually active, what was it like 10 percent, for example if your stomach
hurts just think or even say it out loud, tell your body to fix whatever is hurting your
stomach, as in “Body, get rid of the stomach irritation.”, again try it before ya judge it
because I keep myself from being ailed that way.

Always remember, life is as bad as ya think it is.

depression is something in your brain, it can be triggered by something very little. So breaking off a friendship could do that. I hope you are okay im kinda going through the same stuff, depression runs im my family

Those things don't actually cause it and you shouldn't blame them. If you are susceptible to depressions, then running out of milk for your coffee can trigger it. They are only related in the most distant trivial way. If you start slipping down, try to throw yourself into a new project that will occupy your mind with constructive/positive thoughts. Like Ozzy sings in Paranoid.."Can you help me occupy my mind? Oh yeah!"

Everyone has depression.Mild depression can be lived with. But unchecked it may lead to severe depression. Mind control, lack of ego, humility and relief from desires can make a man live real happy and free from depression. VERY FEW can attain this stage.

Yes, you can. But fortunately, situational depression tends to be temporary and relatively mild.

Exercise, eat well, and meditate. You can take control of your mental health.
