I usually just throw them out which is probably the wrong thing to do. Flush them down the toilet maybe?
And definitely destroy information on your labels that contain personal information!

I've heard that if you flush old pills down the toilet, some of the prescription finds it's way into drinking water, because when the water is cleaned, the prescription pill residue isn't all removed. So whenever anyone takes a drink, the are getting a small amount of the prescription.

They should be returned to a chemist for disposal but I wonder if they just flush them down the toilet anyway! perhaps a pharmacist could let us all know?

Depends on what they are, I think. If someone could be hurt by taking them, I'd throw them down the toilet, just to be safe.
