I heard that the polar icecaps will melt and increase the rise in sea levels, putting london underwater.

Nope, it would take several thousand years for the continental ice to melt to a level that could submerge parts of London. I'm guessing that London will face far greater threats of destruction over the next 100 years than they will from rising sea levels over the next 1000...

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Globally, sea levels rose by an average of 1 inch every 15 years in the last century and that rate shows little sign of accelerating.

The government would take action to improve flood defences long before we experienced any problems.

The Global Warming Alarmists would have you believe that the government would sit on its hands and do nothing to prevent potential flooding, but this is nonsense. The last time it was pointed out that there was a risk of flooding in London, they build the Thames Barrier. Why wouldn’t they take similar action again in the future? The truth is, of course they would.

So, I have little doubt that London will be fine.

London - I think it may seeing the height of the sea level. The books say that it does concern with poles and they will melt, rising up high. Books say that the water level will increase by at least 152 metres.

Maybe not, and if so, you have a few decades before it happen. But the sure thing that should happen, is that after warming, will come the big chill... The oceans heat transfer will be disrupted by the addition of fresh water from the ice caps, and should stop warming the northern european weather. So the average temperatures in winter, will become like Canada (not the west coast).

No, but it will cause some flooding, dislocate some people, and cause expensive damage.

It's not a movie style disaster, with Big Ben submerging. But it's bad.

By the way it's not the "ice caps". The Arctic ice cap is floating and won't increase sea level. It's the land based ice on Greenland and Antarctica, and simple thermal expansion of the ocean, that causes the problem.

absolutely it will, if left untreated will put london underwater. there was a huge documentary about that on the discovery channel about the thames river rising uncontrollably even with the systems in place designated to protect london, it would not be enough when combined with rising sea levels.
