The american car business in general is faltering. Ford will recover we have many customers around the globe with tons of them. The new hybrid escape is a winner, the new awd montego/Fusion the Ford 500 not many people know about but that is too a great car and will soon be renamed taurus. The pickups are still the best out there and now they even made stonger and carry larger payloads. We have had a few clients demand the new Toyota Tundras with horrible results. Any one want a used one thats bent in 1/2? We have several. The Mustang will always be a strong seller. Ford is beginning to listen to the consumer again. All the american car makers have always had huge pension costs. Ford has been around since 1908 they have more retired employees then working ones at times. If you do the math Ford, Chrysler and GM can never be a Toyota. Toyota has only been in business since the 1950's. they don't have even 1/3 the retirement costs the American makers have so they have a ton of more money to spend on R&D. As time marches on a people live longer the retirement costs just get worse.

Yes. I have been seeing more 2007-2008 Fords on the road than about 2-3 months ago. I now see Fusions as frequent as a Camry and the Edge's are absolutely everywhere.Seeing more f the Expeditions too and a lot of the 2008 Super Duties. My predictions are that once Ford starts remaking the Taurus, along with the Mercury Sable and Lincoln MKS, Then they will be back on business making profits again. They have improved their quality a huge amount, according to JD Powers and Associates, they have topped Nissan and are now equal to Toyota in quality. They have also earned the most awards than any car manufacturer in the world. I'm also seeing more 2007-2008 Mercury's and Lincolns on the road. Ford has also greatly improved their styling techniques to look more European/Japanese. The Edge, Fusion, Milan, MKZ, and MKX are good examples. I have respect for Ford that they came all this way from good quality to better styling.

Ford is recovering from their losses last year. The Fusion sedan is helping them recover a little, but they are still struggling with the drop in sales. Remember, Ford makes most of its money selling its SUV's and F-Series trucks, but the way gas prices are going, they are now relying on their new Ford Edge crossover to help pull them out along with the new 2008 Ford Taurus sedan. The quality of their vehicles has definitely went up with their new additions and they are giving Japenese competitors a run for their money with the Fusion.

Ford is doing better, in that they are losing money more slowly. Their sales are down, but mainly that's because they canceled the old Taurus, which (surprise) was their biggest selling car, even though it wasn't even available to the public. Their new products are selling reasonably well.

If your real question is whether they've turned it around, the answer is no. Absolutely not. As they continue to shrink, they are always spreading their fixed costs across a smaller number of cars. They can only reduce fixed costs by "restructuring" which costs money. They're in a death spiral. They'll be in it up until the moment that the shrinking stops, and that hasn't happened yet.

Ford sales are still declining... however they should be happy with its 33% stake in Mazda.... since its really keeping them afloat (FYI: the Fusion, which is helping out Ford, is built on a Mazda platform using the same Mazda engine as a Mazda 3).

I think the Ford Edge will also help them (based off the Mazda CX-7) since i saw quite a few on the road already.

Don't know about their financials, but if the Fusion is any indication on their quality problems, they've finally turned the corner on that. I bought one a little over a year ago and it hasn't seen the inside of the shop except for 4 oil changes and tire rotations. Best car I've ever owned, hands down.
