i'm from philippines and naturally, my complexion is quite dark but not really close to black, just right, but i'm a bit darker than other filipinos. i'm just wondering if guys get a turn off just because of my skin color. i do have a good personality, i mingle with other people nicely, i'm outgoing, has a great sense of humor, got some talents and an active student. i'm 20 and on my senior year in college. back on the old days, when i was in grade school, my classmates used to call me "negra", which means ****** and i'd get pissed off 'cause they're making fun of me. but now, i realized having dark skin is not an inferiority, i believe i'm pretty enough..or what?

lf someone does not like you simply because of the color of your skin, then you are SO better off without them.

I don't believe for one minute that the color of someone's skin plays a factor in how attractive or unattractive people are perceived to be. Only bigots and haters make an issue out of it.

I'm not going to say that you'd be better off without the guy if they didn't care for your skin color. People have various standards, some include skin tone. In some countries, tanned skin (where it is glamorised) may be preferred. But it seems in countries with naturally darker skin, lighter skin is preferred (India, Japan, China, etc.).

To answer your question, yes, dark skin would possibly be a man's reason for not liking you. It's just as valid as having a preference for hair color, body build, weight, height or any other visual basis of judgment.

If that is the only turn off to a guy (skin color) then he needs to grow the heck up& quit being childish.Besides if they are like that you dont need them anyway.Good luck and remember do not change for anyone because you will never be heppy trying to keep them happy.

everyones beautiful in there own way. I think that its not the skin color if it is well F them. Everyones different. but they need to learn to except you. You got talent. be you. forgive love and be you is what comes to mind. Sticks and stones can brake your bones but names can never hurt me is very common for me. I get used to it. you see my sister is popular and pretty and compared to her I am a pretty face but need to be thinner by alittle to be hotter than her is what the guys say. I get used to it though. I have counseling and it helps me. I think if you need someone to talk to go to a counselor they are like the best.

I think it comes down to personal preference but there are some racists about. Personally I am attracted to dark skinned girls and I do like Philippino girls especially. I am too old for you otherwise I would have asked for your telephone number by now :-) You will find someone who is right for you. God will find someone if you ask him. x

If someone bases your relationship on skin color then they are not worth the time of day. I say ignore them and move on to another. Life is too short to worry about that stuff.

have you ever heard the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me."? anyone who calls you anything besides beautiful is just plain ignorant. as long as you believe in yourself an continue to be yourself, then I know you'll find the right guy. I doubt they'll get turned off. But, if they do, ignore it, because it's their loss. good luck!

If that's the case don't bother with him the guy. People who judge others by skin colour aren't worth bothering with.

I think that if a guy dislikes you just for the color of your skin, he is also not good enough for you ;)
