there are many things in your question that I would question.
and the first one is according to science,
!. science is looking for a way to prove that God does not exist.
2. the scientist are getting paid to do this. if they do not come up with something the loose their jobs, and income.
3. how can science measure a billion years?
4. why does one proof, disprove the previous "proof" every few years.
now for the second thing I question is. the created in a flash, so to speak.
1. Genesis 1,1 in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth. and the earth was void and without form.
where is the time period here.
and why did God create it "void and without form" or did He?
2.a day was not necessarily a 24 hour time period,
these are thing use to distract you, by people who are trying to disprove the bible
3.would it blow your mind if the bible said the first billion years God created the heavens and the earth? I am sure when it was written, a billion years was not in the comprehension of those intended to read it.
as for who is right.
now is the time for you personally to stop listening to people who are paid to teach you what they believe, or suppose, or have a theory about. whether it is a scientist, or a minister.
and just because i am not paid to tell you what I believe.
don't go by what I say either.
but, study to show yourself approved.
by the way the latest theory on carbon dating, is it has to be done on the curve.

It depends on whether or not you take the Bible literally. If you do, then the earth is roughly 6000 years old. However, another perspective might be that God used the concept of morning and evening to help early man understand the idea that he created things in steps over a period of time. Early man could not have grasped the concept of billions, millions or even thousands as mathematics and numbers had not in all likelihood been discovered.
As a Christian with a personal relationship with God, I do not feel the need to understand all things but simply accept the fact that my God could have created everything in a nano-second had he chosen to do so. But, as we know that God is timeless (no time contraints like we have on us), a day would be meaningless.

I've always questioned the literal translations of the Bible. I think its possible that "day" doesn't mean "day" as in 24 hours. Like one might say "a new day is dawning" what is meant is a new age or era. That could be true for a lot of things in the Bible. The way we translate and understand things written in the Bible just aren't exactly what the authors meant. You have to have a good understanding of the lives and minds of the people who wrote at the time.
P.S. I'm an atheist but have interests in religion, anthropology, and sociology. I think the study of religion is fascinating.

It didn't take millions of years. God doesn't need that much time and the scientists are wrong..
Their dating methods are flawed and based on wrong assumptions..
They just don't want to accept that God could create everything with apparent age, so they have to try to find another method.
If dinos were millions of years old, there wouldn't even be bones on earth.

God is eternal, He doesn't measure days. The days counted in Genesis are for human benefit, only figurative for God.
We are eternal. We only measure days while here. When we fully enter eternity, we will grasp how very short our existence in the world was. It is shorter than the blink of an eye but defines us for eternity.
Know that numbering your years is a great part of wisdom. Don't waste your time. It is very short.
Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

The 24hour day and time in general is something invented by society. It is simply the amount of time it takes for the earth to make one revolution. If you do not live on earth, our "day" is not applied to you. Also, the concept of time is around because of the fact that we die. A being who is eternal would really have no sense of time.

According to what mainstream science says. They are interpreting data in only one way. A creationist shouldn't close his or her ears to what evolutionary or naturalistic scientists are saying, but to look at their data and say, can this data just as easily fit a seven day literal creation model. It has ALWAYS been a yes for me. In fact their has often been evidence used for them, that in fact makes more sense in a flood or creation scenario. But you would never be able to see that if you only accept what they tell you. Do some research on your own.

Well, if you're a Christian, you're going to have to go being stuck with the contradictory idea of it all happening in a flash. The ideas don't mingle, at all. So, saying that, your choice is either to follow evidence, or faith.
Around who is right, I'd say science, myself--But if your faith leads you another way, then I hope you find your own truths.

It is written that with God a day is like a thousand years. Meaning that with God time does not exist. It is for mans benefit that time is manifested.
