no, (not a guarantee)
its all about balancing in and out. depending on your metabolism you might gain weight or lose it or simply hold even. if you starve yourself or significantly reduce your intake your body compensates by reducing your metabolism. as far as your daily energy use your metabolism accounts for 70% keeping you alive repairing stuff and so on. so the best way to lose weight is to increase the activity of your metabolism.
genetically you have a predetermined metabolic rate - thats why some ppl eat heaps and don't put on weight while others do. you can however give your metabolism more stuff to do.

build more muscle
i don't mean getting bulky - that is building fast twitch fibres, if you build up slow twitch fibres by doing exercises such as running longer distances, cycling, swimming etc that will increase the amount of energy your body devotes to maintaining those muscles. so while sleeping you burn energy.

the second part is what sort of calories you consume. for example if you eat something very high in fat along with something very high in fibre it has been shown that you will absorb less into your system. this is one of the ways low GI foods work - that hold nutrients and everything in the gut releasing slowly - this makes your intestines work (burn energy) to get the food as well.

make sure those calories aren't empty calories - ensure that you are getting adequate amounts of nutrients, vitamins and minerals - dietary supplements berocca or centrum or anything like that is never as good

make changes to your lifestyle you can maintain until age 70 at least.

If you don't eat enough your metabolism (what burns the calories) will become slow and will cause your body to retain fat. Try eating at least 1600 cal/day and getting in as much exercise as possible throughout the day (think parking far from doors etc...). Then use your 3 exercise days/ week for light weight training or other weight bearing exercises like power yoga. Gaining muscle will cause your metabolism to get faster (you will burn more calories when you're resting when you have more muscle) so you definately want to fit weight bearing exericise in your schedule! Good luck!

The Key to weight loss is to Drink LOTS of water... Eat alil more healthy, be alil more active and burn more calories a day than what you PUT IN!

In other words... Just make sure you burn more calories a day than what you put in your mouth! That will cause you to lose weight. and, Try to eat 6 SMALL meals/snacks aday! This will speed your metabolism!

One snack could be an apple and yogurt, or so fourth....just make sure they are little.... Breakfast should be your biggest meal....but NOT TOO BIG maybe alil eggs (protein), 2 pcs of bacon (not tooo much bacon), just alil something to put in your tummy! Fish is great! (If you like fish) also Tuna! just be careful or Mercury....try to get bumblebee tuna IN WATER has the least I do believe? anyways, hope some of this helped... I know you didnt ask for all of this, but maybe someone looking at your Question wanted to see this.... take care, good luck!

Yes, but 2000 calories is better. You don't want to feel faint. 2000 calories is restrictive enough -- 1400, egads!

It depends on your activity level. You must burn more calories than you take in to lose weight.

eating right alone wont help you. you have to exercise too. and sorry, i can't tel you how much you will lose because everyone has a different metabolism. but eat right, and exercise and you'll be sure to feel the different.

tip--don't base it completely on the scale. base it on how you fit into your clothes and how good you feel.

good luck.
