I see Levitcus quoted very selectively a dozen times a day on here. Yet, I don't see any Christians following Mosaci Law.

Extreme interpretations of Christianity include the literalist view, which supports the Fundamentalist and Far Right Evangelical take on the Bible.

These folks loudly proclaim 'the ENTIRE BIBLE' is true and literal! Then they make complete fools of themselves by picking and choosing the parts that suit them, guided by their cultural outlook.

It's difficult to get them to see this, because they are already predisposed to self-deception. Consequently, These people get caught in a lot of contradictions, including the one you mentioned.

Even the orthodox Jewish groups have 'modified' their actual application of the Mosaic laws, according to the 'revealed' wisdom of centuries of pragmatic rabbinical teachers.

NO ONE follows Mosaic law, because they would be arrested for murder -- Moses commanded the Israelites to stone to death their unruly children -- try that in America today, huh?

evaluate the contexts that the two stepped forward in. The Jewish human beings lived in a worldwide that grow to be crowded with jostling cultures that regularly invaded one yet another, intermarried, borrowed each and each others' gods, etc. each human beings had their very own techniques of seeing their place interior the worldwide. Judaism is our way. It makes finished and utter experience to us that different human beings have their very own. meanwhile, Christianity right now became the darling of a brilliant imperial ability that reached for the period of continents. Christianity did not get its 'one and purely' mentality from Judaism. It picked it up from Rome.

Where does it say that it is Jewish law? I find that no where in the scripture. When the commandments (all of the teachings) were given it was for the Jew and the Gentile alike. The Feasts in Leviticus do not say "Jewish Feasts" but says the the Feasts of the LORD. They are HIS feasts, not Jewish ones. If Ruth, a Moabitess had not known about the laws concerning harvesting, she would not have gone out to gather grain so that she and her mother in law could eat. Christ said that not one jot nor one tittle will change from the Law (interpreted as instruction or Torah) till all be fulfilled. Grace is unmerited divine favor only. It does not give us a license to do what we want. Most Christians follow the doctrine of whatever diocese they go to which is sad. Christ said don't follow the doctrines of men. If you want to learn scripture then read it for yourself and ask for instruction from the ONE who had the words written.

This is so not a simple question to answer in a few words. But I'll try. Jesus didn't abolish the law as a whole, he abolished the "old covenant" by which we were put right by the law. Since Isaiah states that no man is good and that no man is put right with God by the law then we see that it is impossible to be put right with God by the old covenant. That's why Christ came. He did what we couldn't do. He paid for our sins so that we could be put right with God through Him because we couldn't do it ourselves through the mosiac law, the old covenant.

We refer to it because it still applies in one respect. That is what ever parts of it are love we try to follow because God is love and they still apply. But the ceremonial and ritual parts of the law don't apply in a literal way anymore because the blood of sheep and goats cannot cleans you of your sin. Those things were just done for symbolism so that we would understand that Jesus was our sacrificial lamb that shed his blood for us to pay for our sins once and for all. It's the same with the other ritual parts of the law. We don't act them out physically anymore but we do them spiritually like washing in the lavar symbolizes how we spiritually cleanse ourselves when we repent of our sins daily.

Well... if you'd actually read the Bible you'd know that certain parts of the law were for the Jews (God's chosen people) only... to set them apart from the rest of mankind. That includes the diet laws, among others.

I do not know. Maybe they have not reach full understanding. We are not under the law, but grace. Moses brought the law, but Jesus Christ grace and truth. What is that grace do. It shows love. How? by considering yourself.

Christians are not allow to beat up on anyone. We are to set good examples and speak as the Holy Spirit gives uttering.

Very good point; however, Mosaic Law is for Jews, not for non-Jews. Non-Jews are bound by only the seven Noahide Laws.

I myself like Leviticus, and not only that, also Deuteronomy.

I like the part where god was instructing his people on the techniques of conquest and pillage, commanding them "Smite every male with the edge of the sword."

And the females? "Take them for thyself."

Take them and do what with them?

I think it's okay for church people to quote the deity they worship, whether it's in Leviticus or wherever.

The TEN COMMANDMENTS that God gave first to the people of Israel embody all of the 613 plus commandments in the Law of God.
