I am 125 pounds and 5'5. I want to lose 5 pounds first, get "used to" being 120 lbs., and then lose 3 more pounds. How many calories a day do I need to lower to lose 8 pounds eventually? Oh, and on the regular I eat about 2500-2800 calories. I really don't know how I didn't gain that much weight in the past :/

You could eat 500 calories less a day than you need to retain your weight. But you should not consume less than 1200 a day. Also, it is important to eat a healthy diet (e.g. not only ananans) and to excercise.
There are many websites where you can calculate what calory intake you need with your height, age, sex, and level of exercise.

Don't listen to James...

1000 for women and 1500 for men are way too low, unless you're a very tiny person.

Diet seagrams: 8 pounds in six weeks? If that's all a person is losing after six weeks of dieting (and exercise to boot) then something is wrong. First all your weight will go up and down depending on what time of day and one should not count single pound gains and loses. Take it in five pound increments. For a woman after 6 weeks eating 1500 a day at the very least you should lose 12-15 pounds. I'm a 38 male about 50 pounds overweight (though you would never guess it by looking at me, most would say I need to drop 15 or 20 pounds) whos been eating around 2000 a day for three weeks and I've already lost 15 pounds. Now five pounds a week may be a lot and I don't expect to keep that rate up as the more you lose they say the less that comes off. But most people should have no problem losing 2-3 pounds a week restricting calories to 1500 (women) and 2000 (men) a day.

If you aim for about 1500 calories per day, assuming you get about 30 minutes of exercise a day, you should be able to lose 5 lbs. in 3-4 weeks. Then another 2 weeks to lose the last 3 lbs. If you'd rather eat more like 1700 calories, you could lose the weight in about 2 months total.

Do yourself a favor and don't loose weight - it becomes an endless struggle. From your BMI (20.5) you have the perfect weight for you height - why do you want to loose 8 pounds? It is so little weight anyway for your height.

Focus on eating healthy food rather, it improves your well being and will probably make you loose some weight (depending on how you are eating now). Increase veggies, try and have them with every meal, and stay away from fast food and unhealthy food.

If you insist on loosing weight have a look at www.sparkpeople.com, you will find all the information you are looking for. Generally speaking eat 500 kcal less per day and you should loose app 4 pounds per month. Much better to increase exercise instead though.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

A pound of body fat equates 3500 calories. So if you decrease your calories by 500 calories a day or burn 500 calories more than you eat each day you would lose about one pound per week: 500 x 7 = 3500

Your weight is good though.
