I've had this problem before but i'd just leave it off for a few hours and it would be fine. But its been a few days now. It already has XP installed, i didn't change anything before i shut it down last.

Indeed. I've had this problem before with my computer. Make sure your hard drives are securely connected and boot up. Go into the BIOS and look at what you computer is trying to boot off of. The problem with mine was that, although the drives were connected, my computer didn't list (recognize) the drive that had XP installed on it. I don't quite remember exactly what more i had to do. I just played around with it.

Use a system repair disk or a Windows installation disk and boot to the recovery console and run the startup repair option, or use system restore. If you use system restore, you should restore your system to a point prior to you having this issue. Once system restore completes, reboot your computer and your problem will be fixed.

oh i seen that screen before, and most people scratch there heads, what happened? yeah i seen that message before, even at school, and sometimes i would ask the fellow students, to help me what it means, if you have seen a message
"no fixed disks present" it means that the computer is not seeing your hard drive, or your hard drive could be bad.
bu in this case, the hard drive, does not see your operating system, go to your bios/ CMOS setup utility, and make sure your first boot device is at HARD DRIVE!!! not cd, or floppy.
see if the computer will take you to windows, watch your gonna do that!! i know you will. and to get there, you need to press a certain key to get to your cmos setup utility, on mines, its DEL, whats on yours?

This may sound a little simple, but check the cables that are connected to your hard drive. IE, unplug both the data cable and the power cable, and then plug them back in. Pay particular attention to the power cable, they can get a little loose. After you have them reattached, turn the machine on and touch the hard drive to be sure that it is turning.

My answer would be, since there is no operating system installed, install Ubuntu. You can download it for free or order free CD's and they will mail them to you, for free.

The problem you are describing is when the PC in question has a boot sector virus. Hard to get rid of unless you do a complete reinstall, which is why I suggested Ubuntu. Linux is less vulnerable to these types of internet weirdness.

if in loading time u get a error about stating os not found or anything not found then it is cmos prob
So the solution is.....take the battery out frm the motherboard and again fix it......the cmos has been reset....
now before booting, enter into bios setting and press restore default....
hope this works.

I had the same problem with my Win2000. I loaded my CD, rebooted from CD and did a repair. The systems are simular, and hopefully this will work for you also.

Error message seems pretty self explanatory.

You may have messed up your boot loader.

Also, just in case, make sure you don't have a floppy or CD in your drives.

You should format your hard drive, then reinstall XP.
Open "run", type in CMD, then type in Format: C (if your comp doesnt run on C drive then obviously put in the drive it is running on. )
Hope your comp works well! =D
