If Salman Rushdie was to die suddenly, how could you be sure it was Allah and not just a city bus or case of the flu that struck him down? Or maybe, Allah is pleased with the way Salman wrote that book. Who know, or cares?

Allah subhanu wa ta'ala does as he pleases and he do whatever he wishes when it pleases him.
Heres a quote from mr Roald Dahl
THE DAILY NEWS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1,1989
Rushdie
LONDON: Author Roald Dahl has launched an extraordinary attack on fellow writer Salman Rushdie, calling him a "dangerous opportunist".
In a letter to yesterday's Times newspaper, the world renowned author of children's books said: 'Clearly he has profound knowledge of the Muslim religion and its people, and he must have been totally aware of the deep and violent feelings his book would stir up among devout Muslims "in other words he knew exactly what he was doing and he cannot plead otherwise."
Dahl said this type of sensationalism did get "indifferent" hooks to the top of the best-seller list "but to my mind it is a cheap way of doing it.
"To my mind, he is a dangerous opportunist." He later told reporters:
"I think he's a twit."

Everyone is destined to die, whether you're good or bad. The worst punishment a person can get is in the after life. The bad publicity he has gotten and the reputation that he has ruined for himself, is punishment indeed. Although, Who am I to decide if he will be punished in the hereafter or not. Allah knows everyones hearts and he knows exactly what each person deserves. You know what they say, better late then never.

Has it occurred to at least some people here who want Salman Rusdie to be punished either by ALLAH or by other agencies like a government that he may be out of the boundary of divine jurisdiction as also laws of the land.If no,then it's time to ponder over it and ask about the validity of our beliefs that we are FREE to assign any role or task to ALLAH we think HE should be doing and also in HIS name, use violence to settle our own scores.Where have the basic tenets of ISLAM gone?Apart from any religion, there are universal cosmic laws with make each one of us responsible as well as answerable to our actions. It's high time we begin to think and learn so as to make human life better on this earth.May peace be upon us.

As it's just a poor rediculous story , no need to punish the writer . No doubt god is wonderin' why some extremist muslims are actin' like this . Givin' him such an award is just for political purposes .

And if God were to punish people for what they do, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He gives them respite until an appointed term; and when their appointed time comes they find that God has all His servants well under His eyes.

God sees the truth & falsehood but waits. This world is n't the place for everyone to be punished. If that was the case, only few pious people would remain alive.

Because IF there is god, he/she is bigger than you think. He/she is not petty who takes life and can't stand someone criticizing him/her. Someone who can create universe is not going to be offended by the bumbling of a human being.
He is in UK, what they do is really none of your business. It's called freedom of speech. Why do muslims want to tell everyone else what to do and whom to kill??? Do you listen to the world? Several muslims countries don't even allow people to practice their own religions if they are not muslim. Others in that religion condemn it, yet do you listen? Muslim countries rape and stone/kill their women for so-called "honor", something the world despises. Do you listen?
