Most likely the doc will not give your child the MMR just in case your child breaks out with the measles. He/She will probably wait a few weeks to make sure.

First of all, "exposure to measles is not a contraindication to immunization. Available data suggest that live-virus measles vaccine, if given within 72 hours of exposure, will provide protection in some cases." (the Red Book)

Secondly, your child was not directly exposed to the index case.

Thirdly, does the neighbor's child really have measles, or more likely, some other viral exanthem common in the summer? You should check with your local health department to see if measles has been reported in the area. Obviously I cannot tell from here, but my bet would be that your neighbor does not have measles.

Discuss it with your child's doctor. He/she should know about it prior to the immunization.

measles is really contagious, if your child had a direct contact with ur neighbor's child, i suggest you call you doctor and ask if its ok to give the vaccine. but i think its better to just hold the vaccine first because your child might be in the incubation stage of measles and therefore vaccine might not be necessary as it might only get the situation worst or iit may be useless.

Check with your doctor, but personally I wouldn't risk having it done knowing there could be a chance that your child could have contracted measles.

Just call your pediatrician before you go for your appt and explain the situation to them. They will advice you on what to do.
