There's such a thing as "going postal" if you know about that; and then there's another thing I'd call "going holy" whereby church people freak out and start throwing tantrums, and worse...
It's a spin-off of all the weird emotion that gets generated in those cults and denominations, especialy in the Bible belt.

i do hope you do not plan to judge all of us seeing as most of us have never even heard of the New Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Charles, Mo. nor follow the New Hope Presbyterian Church teachings. The fact that this man was utterly crazy has nothing to do with religon. If i presented a story where an atheist killed their family and then said so isn't that evidence of how every atheist is crazy? I am sure that that would not go over well. This is a horrible event, but this event should not be the basis for which you judge a religon.

Nothing in this indicates Mr. Vaughn was a believer. Many attend church who have not committed. It is very sad for the children and his wife and his wife's family and his family. It does not reflect on Christianity however, it only reflects on Mr. Vaughn.

i'm trying to see any indication that this mr. vaughn is a Christian...looking, looking...still don't see it-you can sit in the oven since 1994, but that doesn't make you a biscuit...
looks more like evidence that people who have no idea whatsoever what makes a person a Christian are willing to use their first amendment rights, and a family's tragedy, to push their own agenda...not much different than fred phelps, imho...

Oh, so a Christian man kills his family and this is supposed to speak for all Christians in general. Is that what your saying? But, when a Muslim person crashes a plane into a building or detonates a bomb in a public place with women and children, thats not included in your question? Or the Buddhist monk sets his self on fire, or the Tom Cruise believes he was created by the evil Xenu and volcanoes, or Tokken Preist beheads and devours his own offspring or........... get the message?

Things like that happen because there is a devil in this world. It has nothing to do with hearing the voice of God. And it has nothing to do with what church you do or don't attend.
Don't make the actions of one person define what God is and what being a Christian is. If you want to know about being a Christian, start reading the bible.
The church today is run by human beings, and as such, you will find flaws. That's why you need to keep your eyes on Jesus.

There's a lot of lunacy in Christian churches that never gets into the news. It's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt, as the saying goes.

There is a lot of lunacy in the human race. I do think people often use religion as a tool to use, control, and manipulate people under the guise of it all being sanctioned by their God or Holy Book. There are people who will use religion in positive ways and those who use it in negative ways, it mainly has to do with what sort of person they are anyway. I do particularly hate it when people use religion to justify hateful, racist, judgemental, violent, and sexist behaviors.
Some examples of religion gone bad:
the Brentwood Church which advocates whipping disobedient children and has resulted in a child's death. Disobedience in children is seen as a sin in this church.

Rape victim sentenced to 90 lashes with a whip under Islamic law for being alone with her rapist.

Priest found guilty of sexually molesting boys and whipping them and pricking them with pins in what he called dramatic reenactments of the Passion play.

Christian boot camp kills 13 year old in an exorcism ritual.

The problem is that people put so much "faith" in religious institutions and individuals as they are supposed to be exemplar institutions. The truth is they just reflect the people who are part of them, good and bad. Unfortunately, they often believe their holy texts support their actions either way.

When will you people realize that all Christians aren't the same? That the denominations are there for a reason? Plus there are bad seeds in EVERY religion.

What's your point?... that if one is a Christian then he must be perfect and without sin of any kind? Only God is totally without sin.... and aren't you being just a *little* judgmental of a whole class of people in your remarks? Bit hypocritical don't you think?
