Well. New York is not dangerous. Plenty of patrol officers around some people are dangerous but I never experienced something such as killings and all that. The weather in August is usually around 70 - 90 degrees farenheit. I hope I helped you.

New York for the visitor is not dangerous at all. You will be taking in the sights, visiting well known historical monuments and enjoying the many museums. Check out the Museum of Natural History and the Guggenheim. At night be sure you have pre-planned destinations with available transportation. Decline offers from seedy strangers to help carry your luggage or assist you. Visit the many shops to get advice from the local sales personnel. Avoid the boroughs outside of NYC. Get a tourist map, a good hotel and taste the vast array of food offerings that are sure to please the palate. If you take the subway be sure not to miss your station or you could wind up in some ungodly place. August could be at times very very hot and humid, possibly steamy as well so stay cool. I'm out of town right now or I would offer to take you around and you could stay at my place on Long Island. Finally it is for sure no more dangerous than some places in Italy.

New York is one of the safest large cities in the United States in terms of crime. There are "bad" neighborhoods but that is the case of any major city. Luckily a lot of crimes like pickpocketing and theft are significantly down from a few decades ago, so it's pretty safe to be a traveller in NYC if you use common sense.

Parts of it are, especially at night. It is usually hot and humid in the summer. I have found that the weather is better in August than July.

It can get hot in August. It can be dangerous if you wonder into the wrong parts of town. Use taxis at night and you should be fine.

Hi!! New York is both dangerous and not dangerous. The good part is that you get to explore and shop. The bad part is there's gang violence. So, if you go, have fun:). Aslo, the weather is going to be hot over there:).
