Say you have family problems but if they find out they will fire you. If you mislead in anyway to do this they have the right to fire you. Most of us use our vaction to try out jobs like this or plan for one of the jobs to be off shift of the other.

Well now this depends on several things. 1. Do you have scheduled vacation or sick days left to use? 2. If you haven't abused your time off then use your paid days. If you have no time to use then you can simply say this to your employer " I need to take care of some personal matters and i will need to take 5 unpaid days off. This works because you are not telling a lie, also you are not having to remeber or define your issues to anyone therefore you do not have to continue the lie with another lie down the road. The fact that you are looking for a new job shows you aren't happy with were you are so the risk will be your reward should you find a new job on this time off.

If you have vacation time accrued, just put in for vacation. If not, you can ask for personal days off. No explanation other than you have personal business to take care of.

Tell your new boss that after a week or so of trial you will need to give two weeks notice to your old job and may have to work it. It will show them that you are loyal to whoever you are working for.

Many times companies tell you to leave when you put in your notice. So you may get lucky.

It would be smart to use your vacation days to do this. Take a week off. I dont think you would need anymore time than that. Finding a new job isnt easy. Good luck!
