Most modern antidepressants prescribed by doctors today are quite suitable for use with the contraceptive pill. However the probable side effect that may happen is raising the blood levels of some tricyclic antidepressants (ex. Anafranil, Elavil, Pamelor, Tofranil, atc.) as a potentiating effect of oral contraceptive pills. Other antidepressants could lessen your pill effect as well. Generally, you maybe not worry much on the matter of having pregnancy by taking both but be cautious on the side effects of the raised blood level of antidepressants. Check out what antidepressants you are taking. You may be interested to visit this link listing the oral contraceptive drug interaction.:

Some anti-depressant decrease the effectiveness of the pill .. Like lamictol so you should really talk to your doctor.
Also certain birth control pills make you more depressed but most of the time they help stabilize your hormones so you'll be less depressed.
