The question can't be answered unless you tell us what it is you do at the gym. Cardio? Yes. Go without eating. You'll see huge fat loses. Weights? Nope. You need to consume food and give yourself an hour before you hit the metal. Cheers.

If you take breakfast that you feel full before you work out, your body will concentrate on digesting the food than burning calories. And you'll feel sluggish when you're moving too.
So it'll be more likely your workout doesn't do anything if you eat beforehand. What you need to do before you work out is just to consume something to increase your blood sugar, it could be an apple or an orange or an energy bar a half hour or 45 minutes before you start working out. And eat nutritious lunch after that.
Always remember take isotonic drinks such as Gatorade to provide your body with the electrolites it needs.

There are debates over whether it is better to work out before eating (it supposedly makes your body burn fat directly) or to eat something first. What it comes down to is what your body is comfortable with. If you can work out without eating and you don't feel dizzy or tired quickly, then go ahead and work out before you eat. But if you feel like you work out better after eating, then eat breakfast. If you don't like the feeling of the food in your stomach, have an 8 oz serving of Gatorade or Vitamin Water... it will give you the electrolytes you need to work out for only 50 calories or so.
Always drink 8-16 ounces of water before you work out (not right before, but like an hour before). It raises your metabolism so you can burn more during your workout. And your body needs the water when you are sweating!

The only time I don't eat before working out is when I go for a jog at 6:00am before work. I eat when I get back. Other than that, I always eat oatmeal or something with fiber and protein before - or even a couple of eggs.

im not a health expert so dont quote me, but i dont think its good to be skipping meals. prob best to have a snack at least before you go work out. Your body will need the energy and nutrients to keep you going throughout your workout

Have something really light like a banana or a bowl of cereal. Then go have lunch after your workout (you'll burn more calories).

Well, I think breakfast is must and it should be nutritious. Thinking of breakfasts i remember a line, "breakfast like a king, lunch like a common man and dinner like a pauper".

Well if you do not like exercising on a full stomache {like me} then just drink a smoothie, or mlk, or eat a banana. Because you DO need breakfast.
