If you live your life by the bible, the bible doesn't say to do that.

Just like everything else in the bible, you have to figure it out through a fable. The bible just doesn't come right out and put it simple for us.

I do believe though that it says to have fellowship within the congratition and to go out and preach the word. Also it shows that the first worshiping held in the temple.

Also in the bible it talks about making a tent for God and having his ark so they could go and worship him. I believe this is where the gathering started from as well as going to sacrafice their animal or their best crop.

Hope this helps

FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT:
Ex 12:16a And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation (a.k.a. worship sevice)

FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT:

The Bible teaches via direct command and approved example, thus in John 20:19 they assembled for worship on Sunday, and Jesus blesses this occation with His appearance.

"Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you."

Also John 20:26 the second Sunday they assembled for worship, and again Jesus blesses the assemble with His appearance.

"And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you."

They continuied meeting on the first day of the week -- as indicated by Acts 20:6-7 and 1 Cor. 16:1-2.

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together (a.k.a. worship sevice), as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I agree that going to many churches is a waste of time.
However, genuine christians are suppose to meet together.
Hebrews 10:25 "not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom."
If we follow the first century christian example, then Acts 12:12 teaches that they met together.
"The house of Mary where quite a few were gathered together and praying."

Do not forsake the assembling (getting together) of yourselves---
that was turned into "Going to church".

As Children of GOD we should get together on a regular Basis. Then, the things that GOD put into the "Church" (Body of Christ) can function to help us all.

Ditto.

I agree, as a non-christian (Wiccan) I've actually studied the bible with my Christian friends and yes it nowhere says "go to church". I think the Catholics and the Orthodox people only believe you better go to church so you can go to heaven, that also includes Mormons. While Protestants don't believe that, I've heard 'em saying that you just need Christ to get to heaven NOT the church.

(Hebrews 10:25) not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

I think it's really funny when mindless uneducated people ask questions based upon nonsense. The word "church" is not used, OK; but you really ought to educate yourself, before exposing your ignorance. many previous answers have already displayed your laziness.

Go back and read it again. You missed something.

Stop getting on this forum publicly and comitting blasphemy. Also, where in the Bible does it state "YOU SHOULD NOT GO TO CHURCH"?

Explain that one. Geesh...just stop it. Stop it!!!

As my sister once told me...
she wanted to see what everyone else was wearing.

it's a social scene. Probably one of the best things I can say about organized religion.

the bible is incorrect on almost every topic, just leave it out of your life, the bible was written by man, not God .
