Yes, you tip a hair stylist when they cut your hair or a server at a restaurant. It's the same thing for a tattoo artist.

It's not required, but If you think they did a good job then it's nice to tip them.

Usually, like someone above mentioned, the tattoo artist gets about half of what the tattoo costs. The other half usually goes to the shop.

Good luck with your first tattoo!

I always tip my tattoo artists! They're doing a great service to you by placing something on your body that will be there forever! Of course, if you dont like the tat then there is no need to tip. I usually just give them $5 but I've also never had a tat cost more than $60.

A tip isn't required, but in most cases the artist gets half of what you pay for the tattoo, and the other half goes to the owner of the shop. So a tip to the artist would be nice.

It's not required, but I always do - the amount depends on the quality of the work, friendliness of the artist etc., but I normally tip between 10 -20. You can always use my immortal words - uttered after having a tat done in one marathon session (3½ hours is ETERNITY when you're having the top half of your back done); "I need a drink now - here's one for you" (OK, I parted with 30 that time, but the work is exceptional and only cost 120).

I usually tip the artist. I don't like it nor do I want to after paying so much for the actual tattoo, but I feel obligated. One of my tattoo's took 3 hours and I felt like I had to tip. He did an awesome job, but it is expensive enough without the tip. But really, what's an extra 20 or 30 bucks when it comes to something that will be on your body forever!

Yes. The exact percentage you should tip is more flexible, since a tattoo is way more expensive than other services you might tip for. But if you can afford to, a 15% tip is nice.

I tipped my artist 15%.
But of course, he was also my high school friend.

He was very thankful.

The way I see it - if they do a great job and you like their work, they deserve the tip. Much like the person who cuts your hair.

i wouldnt. I got a tat about 2 weeks ago and it cost me $120 just for it in black and white, but i'm gettin it in color, so i gotta pay $60 for that. After i'm finished getting this tat, i'll never go to this same parlor again. way too pricy and people told me other parlors i coulda went and got it for much cheaper. Shop around before u get it so u can see who has the most reasonable prices, and can still do quality work.

Do you tip the server? Generally 20%. Think about it, they're giving you something you'll have for the rest of your life. Don't forget to bring a stress ball and a good friend!... don't forget to breathe.

If the service is great and you like the results, I think you should. To me it depends on how reasonable the rates are. Some seriously take advantage, and they dont get tips from me.
