My son had his tonsils n adnoids out plus tubes put in his ears three days ago. He will not take his pain meds. I guess the codine makes the tylenol taste bitter. Ill put it in his drink n he will just take a few sips here n there. I just dont want him to suffer. Any suggestions?

call your doctor and ask if the doctor knows of any way for you to get the medication into your son or if there is a different medication that would not taste so bad.

Have your son slowly suck Popsicles, this will help ease the pain.

You could try mixing it in with some juice, or you could use an oral syringe and give it to him that way, it might force him to swallow some of it, it will not be comfortable for him, but swallowing in general is not comfortable after these surgeries. I have had two throat surguries, one at 16, and one at 23, they are very uncomfortable and swallowing, even saliva after those surgeries for at least a week after is uncomfortable. He needs to take his meds as much as possible though so he can reduce the pain enough to eat and drink, otherwise he will get weak and sick.

Know the asteroid wellhead tonsil stones them for many years and it's been title not eventually.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

pain control after tonsil surgery has been the question for many research now. even the best surgical technique will expect pain after the surgery. Many have tried giving round the clock ibuprofen (or paracetamol/ketorolac) with soft & cold diet given in small amounts frequently. also, have your son swallow a lot, this will exercise his throat muscles. you may also give him a chewing gum to assist him in swallowing a lot while assuring him that everythings going to be alright.

Make him little juice Popsicles and freeze his dosage in that. OR just give him Popsicles. He may not need the pain medicine either, and that may be why he is rejecting it. I wouldn't worry too much, he will heal and this too shall pass!
