you need a rb25 oil pan from a 2 wheel drive skyline due to the fact that the front diff runs through the oil pan on 4wd rb26 engines ..also a rb25 tranny would be best .... the skyline can't disengage the front wheels full time awd

First of all, the new 2009 GTR is NOT a Sskyline. In case you don’t know it, today you see Skylines all over. Here in the US is the Infinity G35. Surprised? The G35 coupe shares most of it’s specs with the Fairlady Z (Nissan 350Z). Engine, suspension, and partially the chasis as well. Now, Nissan decided not to produce the new GTR under the “Skyline” model. Instead, the new GTR is just that: GTR. And is only produced under the Nissan brand and not under Infinity (Nissan’s luxury division). So your computer made pictures of a wanna be new GTR made out of a R34 do not apply to this case because we are not following that line anymore. Nissan adopted the new “egg” shape for their sports car back in 2002 when they started producing the new Z. The GTR shares also many things with the G35 and the Z. But it ends very quick as the GTR has a new All Wheel Drive setup, new transmission, new suspension, and best of all, an oversized VQ35 engine which as per the latest rumors is a 3.7 or a 3.8 engine. And of course, the best of the best: Twin Turbos. The car might not look like a super sports car, nor is the real intention of their makers to look like. Nissan is targeting a lower market for the GTR. It is supposed to compete with the Corvette, the Porsche Turbo, and similar. Brian said that American muscle and Europeans look better. Everybody like different things, and I do agree some sports cars like the Lamborghini Gallardo look very “cool” but again, the GTR is not to compete against them. The price tag for the GTR will be around $70,000. The new Corvette Z06 is just as expensive, and only the newer Z07 schedule to come out next year will be hitting over $100,000. At that point, the GTR can not compete. But, on the other hand, the GTR has a big advantage over most of the other cars mentioned before: it has turbos! Only the Porsche has the same advantage, and maybe the Z07 if GM configures it with a Supercharger as rumors say. Since the GTR is configured to have forced induction, it is relatively easy to upgrade those turbos to bigger ones. I would estimate that if you add another $20,000 to $30,000 on top of the price tag, you could get close to 900 HP on that engine. Bigger turbos, upgraded ECU and probably sleeves on the engine will be needed alone with bigger intercoolers and other things. Just think, with $100,000 you could build up a brand new GTR that has close to 1000 HP or maybe even more, and “smoke” most exotic cars out there. I think the GTR is just as good as it can get, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one of those.

I'm with gone_drifting. though not quite so vocally :P

The GTR's key strengths are in its technologically advanced drivetrain. The AWD is an integral part of that. I know atleast the later GTRs used part-time AWD where the car is normally driven as a rear-wheel-drive car [with front wheels picking up dirving duty when traction requires] which tells me some trick ECU programming might help you on your way to safely removing the AWD function, but that ruins the very reason for the car even existing.

Why take a perfectly good car and turn it into something you could prolly trade your 4 wheel drive 95 in for what you really want? I know one person who has ever done something like that and he doesnt have the car anymore....he traded it into nissan for a fairlady cause it didnt work anymore. Its to easy to mess up when your doing as a garage build up. Besides, its what makes the skyline such a powerful car! Why douse that in order to feed your misdirected need to drift or do something stupid? If you are trying to drift and can't in the 4wd skyline, my dad would say its your fault....not the cars fault. Just trying to help. Oh and this techy from nissan just gave you a recipe to kill yourself, a podestrain and your car all in 10 seconds. It should be in the Anarchist Cook-Book but still firm and sound technical advice!

Remove the transmission and replace it with a 300zx gear box with out the transfer gase and center differential of course you then need to get rid of all that weight. Front axles can be removed except the outside CV stub shafts still have to be thru the wheel bearing ANd everything else can be removed. BUT WHY
