I went to a athletic camp last week and somehow managed to pull my toenail off. I was doing fine until a few days after, when I started having extreme pain. I have had constant pain ever since even though I ice it a good bit and take asprin. I think That it may be an ingrown toenail. Any Idea how to deal with it?

you need professional help. A Podiatrist is a foot specialist who you need to see immediately before this becomes a serious problem. Taking care of this yourself is not recommended.

Ingrown toenails can be really painful if left untreated.Last summer I stubbed my toe on my bicycle tyre and ripped the toenail out.It turned into an ingrown toenail which became infected and in the end I have to have a small operation at the doctors.
The most important thing for you is to see the doctors and check whether it is only an ingrown toenail and nothing more. It could be a broken toe.Try not to let it get infected by soaking your foot in warm water which has got Epsom salts dissolved into it. Soak it for about 10 minutes or so and while foot is wet rub skin away from ingrown side. This will help to move the skin away from the ingrown part. If it is infected you may need antibiotics and even worse an small operation. The operation isn't too bad but it is a hassle!
But first go to a doctor or a podiatrist as it can get worse if you do nothing.

Most people only make their ingrown toenails worse. Make an appointment with a podiatrist - and in the mean time every night before bed soak a cotton ball in alcohol and put it on your toe for 10 minutes. Then put neosporin on the toe and put a bandaid on - this will keep the infection from getting out of control until you get to the podiatrist. When you call make sure you tell them your toe is infected so you can get the earliest appt. available because new patients typically have to wait a while to be seen. If they can't see you within a day or two ask to be put on a call list when another patient cancels (I got in within 24 hours - people always cancel). When you get there the doctor can drain the puss (it's pressure from the puss inside causing the pain) and trim the nail properly - and if they can't do it without causing you more pain they will numb your toe so don't worry). I just had this happen to me 2 weeks ago!!! You will feel so much better after you have it taken care of properly.

You can buy this stuff called "outgrow" at the pharmacy. It's pretty cheap, AND IT WORKS. Also, try soaking your foot in warm salt water to draw out the infection. If that doesnt help the Doc might have to do surgery. That is no fun.
