I want to look pretty when i get to the airport, but i almost always look terrible after plane rides that long. I thought of not wearing any makeup for the ride, then just putting it on before i land. any other ideas? should i change clothes on the plane?

Changing clothes can make you feel a little better. The no makeup thing is a good idea, just know about the new regulations for flying. All of your makeup will have to fit into a clear, 20 x 20 plastic sandwich bag. They can't be over 3oz each or they will be confiscated at security.

A hairbrush can help as well, but I've always found that I don't feel great until after I take a nice, hot shower. So smile, have confidence, and that will shine through, even if you look a little tired. :)

Have a safe journey!

I don't have the same issue with looking good, but I do like to feel okay when I arrive after any flight. There are a couple of things I do.

The first is to put myself in the time zone at my destination. I reset my watch, and then try and behave as if I was there. If it is midnight at my destination, and the meal service is starting up, I will only have a snack. If its 1 am, I don't watch a movie, but try and get some sleep.

Second, I always have a 'sleep pack'. I assembled this when I was sharing hotel rooms on an overlanding trip, but it works brilliantly for aircraft. It has an inflatable neck pillow, earplugs and eye mask. I have not found any airline that provides all three. Sometimes they provide none.

Third. I don't drink alcohol and try and limit my caffeine intake. These will dehydrate you, adding to the problems the dry cabin creates. You might want to carry a good moisturiser and use it during and towards the end of the flight.

I carry a change of clothes and a limited toilet bag in my cabin bag. This is not to change into on the plane, but in case my checked bags are delayed or lost.

Go without make-up for the flight. Once they annouce that landing is about to begin go to the restroom and freshen yourself up (wash your face with a washcloth and warm water, brush your teeth, etc). Change your clothes and then apply some make-up. One more tip..drink a lot of water during the flight. That will help with dehydration.

Oh yeah..if you can pack your own lunch and include fresh fruit and veg. Nothing makes me feel more disgusting than airline food. It always makes me bloat and feel nasty.

Just do what is best for you, dear.

I think changing clothes will only make you feel fresher for a few hours and you still need a shower after that.

Try to keep things simple and don't use makeups if its possible. Its not that you're going for a 10 hour photoshoot or something. Drink lots of water! Dehydration makes you look bad...

Most airports have restrooms before the greeting area. Just stop in there and freshen up before you meet the person waiting. I have done this many time after 26 hour flights to see my husband.

The no-make up thing is good!! Drink water and nowt else while you are in the air. Either wear something creaseproof or change. Try and get some sleep.

Sleep and change into fresh clothes and put on your make up right before you land. Also make sure you can brush your hair and spray it.
