Maybe he shouldn't have put the stupid tree in the garden with them in the first place. I swear, such an unprofessional God. Probably because he was still new at the whole being God thing back then, I hear he's learned a lot from his mistakes. I tell you what, if it were Wotan, that tree wouldve been guarded by a giant wolf with 6 heads or something...like to see Eve try and eat the apple then, ha! would never happen.

Uh...he told them of everything. He told them they could have ANYTHING around the garden. Partake of all of the fruits and offerings of the other areas but touch NOT this ONE TREE. Do NOT take the fruit of this one tree. Satan told them BEFORE they did, that it was the knowledge of good and evil.
And they did it anyway. They didn't do it because he said not to...they did it because Satan told them if they did, they would be as strong, powerful, and as knowing as God.
They fell into the temptation because they wanted more than what they had...and they were already given everything they could need.
That is a test. Its pretty simple. If someone came up to you and gave you a HUGE house, with tons of money, and all the belongings you could ever need...and then told you, there is a glass in the cupboard that you can never drink out of. They told you that if you drink from the glass, you would lose all of these things you had...would you drink from it?
Once they took the forbidden fruit, they understood right and wrong. Not before. They understood that evil was in the world. They found negative feelings, like being ashamed of being naked and they covered themselves.
They failed the test.
Im glad that you think they should have been told before hand, but they werent. God did it this way because thats how he wanted to do it. I would watch about questioning his reasoning.
If you had nude pictures in a box in your closet, and you plainly tell your children NOT to go into the closet and open the box. What if while you are out one day and they did it? You would just forgive them for disobeying you?
When a child first learns of nudity, they begin to change. They learn that there is a difference between a man and a woman and they begin to ask questions and experiment. They lose their innocence.
This is exactly what happened to Adam and Eve.

I wonder would you think that God's punishment for Adam and Eve and their offspring were too severe if the first time you committed a sin you were banished from His presence and punished. We humans are not always punished the second after we break one of God's commands and we might be getting to spoiled for our own good. We should never think even for a second that we don't deserve every reprimand that God so lovely gives us. Adam and Eve had everything on this earth, literally! The one thing that God commanded they not have was the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. One tree in an entire world of trees bearing fruit. As we can see their disobedience bore more than the consequences they suffered, it passed all the way down to every generation that was born after them. God punished them so severely for what you may think was a small crime, but in actuality they were condemning billions when they ate that forbidden fruit. Don't you think God had a right to be as severely angry at the catastrophe they cursed all mankind with?
God Bless You

God did not test them. God gave Adam and Eve free will to choose a fellowship with him, out of love and obedience.
Suffering and death came through separation from God. Nothing sinful can live in his presence. Without God there is no life. You will say God knew what they will choose yes, and therefore God already had his plan of salvation. It was there from the beginning. In the Tree of Life.

What I always wondered was why Eve seemed to get the brunt of the punishment. First off, Adam was a little tattle tale..."it wasn't my fault...Eve told me too."
I'd have punished him for not taking responsibility for his own actions..."If Eve jumped off a bridge, would you?" Plus, he was the older one and should have acted like it.
You are right about the test...who does such a thing? No instruction...just a test. Then damned for eternity along with all you children who weren't even there when it happened?

hello yahoo, i can't speak to, if adam & eve had gotten the knowledge of good from evil yet or not. but what i do know is that God was very explicit in His directions about them not touching that one tree..of all the trees in the garden. but when the snake told eve she would be better than God and eve told adam they would be greater than God, by eating the forbidden fruit, their simple human nature acted on it. God didn't kill them, but in their disbedience of God...he threw them out of eden. they were marked with original sin, a mark which has come to everyone that followed. i hope this helped! :)

"Do not touch the tree in the midst of the garden." Gen.3:1-5; God told Adam, Adam told Eveand neither Adam or Eve or Satan was ignorant.
Gen.3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Rev.12:9 [ Names of Satan ]; Luke 20:34-36; Angels do not die.
Gen.3:19; From dust thou art to dust thou shalt return. John 5:26-27;
1Cor.15:22-28,51-53;
As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

first of all, the bible is only a book that someone wrote a long time ago, there is no proof any of it took place, people need something to believe in, it is too hard for people to admit that there is no other purpose to live than just to live and wait to die. for example people need to believe that thier loved one died because it was thier time or god said come home, it just makes them feel better and makes it easier to rationalize traumatic events, do your kids a favor and dont shove religion down thier throats, but i think what your doing with your kids is great, if more parents corrected the kids behavior immediatly maybe crime would not be so bad today.

While it is true that Adam and Eve had not known or experienced Bad, it is not true that they were ignorant(Genesis3:2)shows that even though Eve was the less experienced one, she knew exactly what God had requested of them! And she was able to clearly explain to the devil who was speaking through the serpent, God's request.
God gave our first parents, Adam and Eve, a perfect start. They had perfect bodies and minds to be able to make good decisions and choices with they were not ignorant for God taught Adam well and gave him the commision to teach Eve well too, andGod gave them a paradise garden for a home. If they had submitted to God's rule, they would have remained perfect and happy. In time, they would have been the parents of an entire perfect, happy human family living on a paradise earth. That was God's purpose for the human race.—Genesis 1:27-29; 2:15.
However, Adam and Eve misused their free will. They wrongly thought that they could be successful independent of God. Of their own free will, they stepped outside the boundaries of his laws. (Genesis, chapter 3) Because they rejected his rulership, he no longer was obligated to sustain them in perfection. 'They acted ruinously on their own part, did not remain his children, and the defect was their own.'—Deuteronomy 32:5.
From the time they disobeyed God, Adam and Eve began to degenerate in body and mind. With Jehovah is the source of life. (Psalm 36:9) So because of cutting themselves off from Jehovah, the first human couple became imperfect and eventually died. (Genesis 3:19) Consistent with laws of genetic inheritance, their offspring could receive only what their parents themselves possessed. And what was that? It was imperfection and death. The apostle Paul therefore wrote: "Through one man [Adam] sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned."
Yes you are correct when you test someone you do provide them with information to study and teach them what is right and wrong, they knew what God wanted of them , they were told not only what God wanted them not to touch, but also what consequences disobedience would bring to them them,[death] but they decided to believe Satan's lies, and chose to join him in his rebellion to God, their reasoning was that they could do better on their own, deciding for themselves what is good and what is bad, the consequences of their rebellion has not only affected them, it has affected each and every one of us living today

Well, I am not going to kill my children for not listening to "I said NO".
First, I have to let them know why it was No.
Second, I have to convince them why it was No.
Third, I have to let them make mistake to correct them ( so they would know what is right and wrong )
in your opinion, I believe with you and asked same question before , Adam and Eve were not tell what is right and wrong. And Tested for FAITH ?
And because they didn't listen for 1st time, so .
However, believer's faith is very strong that they will tell you to compare with human.
Human is not perfect to compare with
Omnipotent, Omniscience, Omnipresent and Benevolent God.
