to say that Marines storming out of a chopper in a hot LZ, coming from an amphibious ship, is not being "amphibious"? when Marines are pinned down and a cobra comes to their aid with close air support, is that not being "amphibious" even if it came from the sea on an amphib vessel? i proudly served on two Marine Amphibious Units and take my word for it, choppers are totally "amphibious" i been there. now do u all get my point?

If I remember correctly there are Marines that join in with the Nave Seals team, right. So that sorta makes them amphibious. Of course, I'm a civilian and only know what I'm told by those that have served in their respective branches.
Marines pick on everyone because they just kick some a**. Navy picks on Marines because they don't know how to swim.
Army picks on Navy because they are gay squids (this is hear say from Army guys). Airforce...well I haven't met an active Airforce person in years so I have nothing to say for or against them. Who cares who's amphibious or not, you all bleed the same color and defend the same nation, right?

I thank God that we have ALL of them to keep me and my family safe everyday though :)

in fact the helicopter deployment tactics is not genuine Marine corps'. it is Air cavalry tactics and you need to consider paratroopers amphibious and Marines tri-bious then. Amphibious landing is really the coastal vessels deployment.

to the latter comment, speaking of cobra providing CAS, would you say that Navy jets are amphibious? they provide the same service.

Dude, helicopters are not a amphibious vehicle, i hate to break it to you, but they don't work on water.
They are an AIRCRAFT.
so in your mind a Humvee or a 7 ton truck are amphibious vehicles when they come ashore from ship on a LC-AC.
Just because an amphibious force use a piece of equipment doesn't make it amphibious.

Whats your point, if the chopper is assigned to an amphbious unit then it is if it isnt then its not, thats like saying all marines are uneduacated lap dogs to the Navy, although its my opinion also I'm sure there are one or two percent out there that are educated and good for something other then target pratice
