and the cb i got is a midland 101z will the antenna and the cb get good range?

The antenna is a cheap one. It does not say but most likely it is a 1/4 wave antenna. It uses a magnet, rather than a solid connection to the vehicle body, so the ground may not be as good as it should be!

If you are just going to use the CB for travel, it is not a really bad antenna. If you want to get the most out of your unit, there are much better antennas available. They will be much more expensive!

To get the best results, mount the antenna in the center of the vehicle, on the roof. You may also want to attach an additional ground wire from the radio case to the vehicle!!

just for talking within a few miles not that far...that radio isn't too powerful and the antenna isn't exactly the best, but it will do the job. it's main use will be for talking to the guy basically next to you on the road.
