Why would it be for nothing-it's 40 minutes of jogging!
Just do some stretching before going to sleep to limit soreness.

"Interesting, you may toss a turn a bit before you actually fall asleep because of your circulatory system kicking into gear. It's a good idea that it stretches you out and makes you a little more relaxed after you cool down.

"I personally do 100 crunches and few exercises before I go to bed. Oh, and I'm not sure if this is true, but I think it also help you burn more calories too. You know how usually after a few hours after you work out you are hungry and most people go and grab something to eat? Well luckily you'll be asleep and skip that urge! :D

"To me it seems true and I think I loose a pound or two over night...so if that happens for me with a few crunches and a few karate warm ups (basic kicks and punches and pinions ect) it probably is better with running." ^^

It may make you feel tired, but don't forget to stretch out or you may be sore the next day. Jogging is a good way of staying healthy.

exercise is always good when it's performed properly. exercising that late at night may effect your ability to fall asleep. try it and found it, that's the only way
