The antenna is a cheap one. It does not say but most likely it is a 1/4 wave antenna. It uses a magnet, rather than a solid connection to the vehicle body, so the ground may not be as good as it should be!

If you are just going to use the CB for travel, it is not a really bad antenna. If you want to get the most out of your unit, there are much better antennas available. They will be much more expensive!

To get the best results, mount the antenna in the center of the vehicle, on the roof. You may also want to attach an additional ground wire from the radio case to the vehicle!!

I used to use a 102 inch whip on my car, with roughly 17 feet of cable going to the CB radio. I know there were some inches more than 17 feet, to make it optimal for the SWR's. Someone at Radio Shack should know almost the exact measurements of the cable if you WERE to go with a setup like that. I got enough to where I could trim the cable a couple inches long, put the connector on, checked my SWR's, and then cut off a little at a time until it was set optimally. And people were always amazed I transmitted as well as I did, for what I actually had in my car.
